Is it true Europeans don't have ranch dressing? How can

Some places have it and if I recall they usually call it "American style" or "American ranch" and shit.

It's a very American thing.

It also doesn't belong on half the shit people pour it over.

I was in Subway the other day and there was some guy in the queue talking with an American accent. He ordered a salad, which I'd never seen anyone order at Subway before, and as a sauce he asked for ranch dressing. He asked them to smother it in ranch, they poured like 100 ml on and he was like "Oh yeah, that's good". I couldnt contain my laughter.

Kek, that's pretty funny. As a murrican though I urge you to try it. A ranch dressing salad loaded with tomatoes, bacon and cheese is almost as classic American as you can get. It's not supposed to be healthy but it's good. It baffles me people have never had this.

we use Quark with herbs for this
we also eat it with potatoes or on bread. not for salad though

A buttermilk/mayonnaise emulsion flavored with various herbs. It's amazing. There's also the fake shelf stable bottled kind that vaguely tastes like the real thing but it's fairly shit. That's probably what you've had. In the middle there is a jarred perishable version you can buy cold from the produce department if you can't make your own. This kind is acceptable. Basically if it doesn't require refrigeration it's going to be fake and shit.
