put those in after you cook the onions
6 tablespoons sugar or however much you want to lower the acidity, salt/pepper to taste you could put basil or whatever you want
sum heavy cream to finish
good w/ grill cheese
Lentils
Chicken or beef stock
Whole onion, stick some cloves in it
Couple of carrots
Bay leaf
Salt pepper
Maybe thyme
> doesnt tastes like heaven
Back to school.
Ok. Make pea soup.
Buy dried peas.
Soak them overnight.
Now put those soaked peas with the soaking water to a pot.
Boil in _low_ heat for 2-3 hours. More if you want to.
You can add onions to that thing while it's boiling if you want to go wild.
You could add smoked ham. But you poor.

'go 'za is technically a soup
>>8224125
what's a go za? cuban?
1 can of tomato juice or diced tomatoes
1 can of beans
frozen veggies like pic related
Pasta or rice
Whatever herb/spices you want/have
Combine and cook until pasta/rice is cooked

How does that taste chan?
>>8224218
Like the opposite of heaven
>>8224112
Seconding this. Pea soup is cheap and filling (you don't feel hungry 30 minutes after eating)
And easy to make variations of (see pic attached - I can post an other version if you want)
>>8224149
I'm poor and I make a variation of this.
>>8224257
Split pea and ham soup is great but the recipe in that graphic you posted is retarded. It's like babbys first soup.
Google for much, much better recipes online that have decent flavour.
>>8224270
>It's like babbys first soup.
Well sure. OP is a noob cook asking for simple recipes.
>>8224270
Not him, but what else would you even do to this? It's a simple soup, the recipe is going to be pretty simple. I can think to add rosemary and perhaps lemon zest, but once you've got garlic, mirepoix, and the smoked ham flavors you can't really do a whole lot more to it.
>>8224149
Those are the worst tasting frozen veg money can buy
Don't be poor and buy beans/peas/broccoli separately and get fresh carrots
>>8224270
Well yes. It's the simpkesy/cheapest version because that's what OP was looking for.
Here's a variation with more vegetables and more textures. The point is that OP can start with the basics and add with what he has.
>>8224270
You are full of shit. That is pretty much everything you can do to a split pea soup before it turns into something else.
The cheapest soup is french onion. It's literally water and onion. You can spice it up with a bit of sherry vinegar at the end and eat it with day old bread.

>french onion soup is water and onion
Hello, absolute moron.
>>8225549
>he puts bone broth in his french onion
absolutely pleb. Take a cooking class.
>>8225551
>he makes french onion soup that tastes like old dishwater.
You must work in a "french" bistro.
>>8224086
When I was a student I made assloads of potato leek soup. That being said, leeks are much more expensive now than they were 6 years ago - at least in my area.
>>8225559
>he doesn't know how to make french onion soup taste good without bone broth.
Yeah, keep making fun of the techniques of the bouchons in lyon, pleb. I'm sure your swanson cubes really perfect a classic.
>>8225551
>he calls stock "bone broth"
>he calls others pleb
>>8225570
What's the difference?
>>8226145
The difference is someone who has to ask the difference is a know nothing ignoramous, in competition with Austrolopithecus for lowest IQ.
Congrats. You won!
>>8226200
>no answer
Don't tell me you're one of the idiots who follow that stupid book that gave a new definition of bone broth. Look it up on the Internet all definitions of bone broth are defined in the year 2014/2015. Historically, it was a synonym for stock.

tomato soup is gucci af
one of my faves is this italian 'meatball, i guess' soup that i make
>onion, celery, carrots
>garlic
>fresh oregano and thyme because i grow them
>big can whole peeled tomatoes (i break them apart with my hands)
>stock (or water)
>any small pasta like rotini or penne or farfalle etc etc
>big handfuls of spinach a few minutes before you're done cooking it
i usually buy premade meatballs and cook them separately because i live with a vegatarian and like to cook for everyone
but its also really good just without them so ,':^)
>>8226238
forgot to mention you can add diced potatoes in with the onion and stuff
makes it really hearty and almost more a stew
go to the asian market and make soup
>>8226248
This is a soup thread, take your "stew" elsewhere.

I lived on nothing but those veggies and rye bread for three years
