How many of you get heartburn/indigestion/GERD?
I've been getting it really bad over the past 12 months and taking a lot of ranitidine tablets (aka zantac)
I'm not obese but a little overweight, I don't smoke but I drink about at least 3 days per week usually and I live on a reasonably balanced diet with a lot of spicy foods. None of that is probably helping but idgaf
My doc has sent me off to get some blood tests and to do a helicobactor breath test. Anyone done this before? Wtf is is all aboot?
Going to get the tests tomorrow so I have to start fasting now

I used to eat a lot of garlic and it would produce volcanic heartburn. Now I make sure to cook or bake it and I have no problems.

Get tested for SIBO.
Just get tested, eat the tube, maybe you have diaphragmatic hernia which is operable, but most of thebtime you just need to eat proton pump inhibitors like omeprazol.
Surgeonfag here.
I mostly get it when I eat things with a lot of sugar. Mixed berry pie and sweet potato bread most recently

I have GERD caused by a haital hernia (some stomach that sits kind of in the windpipe)
it can be caused by a lot of things, but there are a few things that make it worse which you can look up
personally spicy food, carbonated anything, alcohol and acid food are the worst culprits
but that's like 80% of what I eat, so the GERD is a lesser evil
eating too much or too quickly is often worsens it significantly

All the time
Family history, grandpa had to have throat surgery
I should probably get tested for whatever so I don't have to get surgery, but it hasn't been as much of a problem recently
Yeah I get some brutal heartburn, get omeprazole it works wonders man
i was getting bad heartburn last year and it ended up being eggs making me sick
Ever since I had my gallbladder out just about everything gives me indigestion. I'll take that over the gallstones though.
