Eggs are extremely unlikely to have internal salmonella infection. Eggs with internal salmonella infection are unlikely to make you ill until the salmonella has had time to reproduce (more than a week at room temperature).

This is true for both washed and unwashed eggs. Japan has washed eggs, but doesn't seem to refrigerate most of their eggs.

So relatively fresh eggs (less than 2 weeks from the hen). Washed or unwashed, are very likely to be safe.

Eggs almost immediately refrigerated as they are in the US are almost always safe. Eggs from 100% vaccinated chickens like in the UK too.

The people who worry about eating raw cookie dough are probably the same people who eat their steak well-done.

My girlfriend got it. She still eats raw cookie dough though. It's impossible to stay away.
