Does anyone have any experience baking with company?
I started studying in a foreign country which has coffee and some treat as a cultural thing I guess?
And I've managed to organise making coconut chocolate balls (with oats etc inside, no actual baking).
And I thought it'd be a neat idea to try make it a weekly/fortnightly thing where we make treats to go with coffee (because store bought is fucking expensive).
Does anyone have any suggestions for cheap/easy coffee compatible treats?
Also as someone who has never baked with other people as a friend-making activity, what the fuck do you do other than baking?

Lusikkaleivät- swap out jams/preserves for different filling. You can also make them larger and put a dimple in the middle to put jam in afterwards instead of sandwiching smaller ones together.

try brigadeiros

i think cooking is way better than baking for making friends, you can drink and enjoy a meal afterwards
>>
>tried this
>accidentally only put in half of the unsalted butter
>didn't realize, but they weren't sticking together, so I just added a tiny amount (half a tablespoon) of almond milk so that they did just barely stick together when tightly packed.
Still came out bretty gud. Not even sure what the proper ones taste like though.

havrebollar is the superior alternative

A big nice bundt cake is good with friends, because there will be so many leftovers to go home. Vary the fillings. So is a nice pie, if it's the kind to serve hot, I guess.

Decorated cookies require some time, so if you want to fiddle with that, esp for younger children or artistic friends, for seasonal baking, like special cookie cutter shapes, go ahead. Dough can be premade, sliced, baked, to allow for maximum time decorating.

I agree cooking is better use of time and more interesting. If you theme it, you can have a lot of different fun each time. And, of course you can finish with the cultural coffee too. Thai iced coffee with a whole meal beforehand, assembling summer rolls or lettuce wraps for their activity/contribution. Some viennese coffee and apple strudel preceded by a nice roast pork and baked red cabbage.
