Why doesn't this board have a sticky for newcomers? How do I get into cooking?
Figure out something you want to cook, then do it. Or if you have a parent or relative that is a good cook, ask them, they will be thrilled.
This should get you started:

nobody here actually cooks
we just eat at restaurants and watch gordon ramsay shows

Speak for yourself.
I watch Alton Brown shows.

/ck/ isn't for cooking. It's for alcoholics, dumb students, fast-food shitposting, mocking youtube cooking channels and filipinos with poor hygiene. It's never had a sticky because /ck/ can't even agree on how to cook rice or boil fucking pasta never mind on what to put into a sticky.

why does that page look like of those hentai sites?
>>8177780
Do you even know what a booru is?

Just google recipes, buy the ingredients, then make the food.
Who is the mastermind behind these idiots asking for a sticky? At least it seems like more than one person. We don't need a sticky because they are millions of sites to teach you basics for this kind of shit. Boards like /o/ /p/ and others help people find more or less what they need. Fucking hell, I am so god damn angry.

Actually, the imbeciles saying this board doesn't have people that cook or brew are fos. But they assume a certain level of knowledge. In other words, you'll hear about ingredients and techniques, but it's rare to see an exact recipe posted, unless for baking.
To be sure, there are a lot of shill fast food and drink threads, but those are all advertising. They're fake. Just hide them.
There's also a lot of shitposting abuse. Just ignore.
But you're going to have to do some research, start experimenting and post successes or failures and ask questions.

Your question is too vague.
Two options :
1) Pick a recipe (on the booru, on Google, from a book). Try it. Fuck it up. Figure out where you fucked up. Tyr again.
2) Ask specific questions.

no, spoonfeed me
We don't have a sticky because nothing about cooking is universal enough to deserve the spot. The most important tenants vary completely depending on the cuisine.
