This made me feel good
Not so much a disaster as a funny story.
>making stir fry
>everything ready
>put wok on high heat
>drizzle oil into wok to heat
>smoke alarm starts going off
>turn on vent, go to get fan
>discover source of smoke is actually $2 lamp I got from a friend
>well shit
>unplug lamp
>move lamp to safe spot to avoid any potential danger
>blow away smoke with fan
>moment of dawning horror
>wok is still on the stove with oil in it
>with perfect comedic timing, wok bursts into flames the moment I turn to look at it
Pretty minor, all things considered. I just tossed a pot lid in the wok to smother the flames, took it off the burner, and brought it outside to cool in the driveway. Needless to say, though, I did not eat stir fry that day.
Not even really a funny story but I was pretty upset.
>wake up in the night after having been up for 28 hours
>hungry for the leftover stir fry in the refrigerator
>put the pan on the stove and decide to get a little creative
>I like red pepper so I opened a bottle of crushed red pepper and thought I was going to put a few shakes on
>realize too late that the lid isn't screw-on, but a pop-top and I pour about half a bottle of red pepper in my food
>cry a little bit
>eat it anyway even though the taste is utterly ruined because I didn't have much else to eat

No. No we're not.
