I've just made risotto for the first time and I spent more

I've just made risotto for the first time and I spent more than an hour on it trying to get all the liquid properly absorbed and the rice is still slightly crumbly in the middle. I know I used enough stock and the correct rice, the only thing I didn't quite do according to the recipe was heat the stock before adding it, I slowly added it while it was room temperature, is this where I fucked up?

When I make risotto it always takes longer than it should even though I heat the stock.Don't worry about it, just do it by taste.

ffs people, it takes about half an hour to make a risotto. Just put the stock on the backburner and bringalmost to boiling point then simmer. Meanwhile fry bits, add rice, add wine, add stock as needed, all on high heat, stirring all the time. Risotto is done when rice is cooked to your desired texture, finish off with some parm and cream and butter or as many of these as you like and serve immediately

Yeah if you add cold stock to the hot toasted rice it will cause the grains to seize up and not cook properly.
If you didn't toast your rice, that is also an important step, don't skip on it.
