So after seeing this video posted here a few days ago, I decided to give this meal a try myself and holy shit do I enjoy it.
I just used a potato diced into small cubes, a small onion finely chopped, a hot dog sliced up thinly and about a third of a tin of spam cut into small squares. Never even eaten spam before, but saw it while shopping and thought it might go with the ridiculously frugal nature of the dish, and hey it's actually not bad. The ingredients total up to a little over £1 per meal, so for poor anons, check this meal out.
Now I've eaten it two dinners in a row and especially with the nights getting longer and colder, it's a really nice warming dish.

Does anyone else have some incredibly frugal meals that taste delicious and leave you feeling satisfied and warm inside?
Its really a shame so much cooking like this and other traditional western dishes will be lost forever.

my frugal/comfy meal is game stew
take stew meat of venison (or squirrel/moose/fox/raccoon - anything with red meat and a bit of fat)
slow cook for a few hours with mirepoix
add root veggies, onion, garlic and spices to taste
dash of port or red wine, or a bitter irony stout
serve with dark rye bread or rye flatbread.
(for frugal mode, skip the wine/port/stout unless you brew it yourself)
