Wow, nice pickup OP! The best thing to make in a KitchenAid is a meringue pie of your choice or a pavlova, because the whipped egg whites and heavy cream topping are where it really shines above manual beating or handheld units.
Make sure to stick the bowl along with the balloon whisk in the freezer for 10 minutes or fridge for 30 minutes prior to whipping the heavy cream and also make sure the bowl and whisk is spotlessly cleaned with soap/water and dry before attempting to whip the egg whites (any small fat residue will inhibit the process).
