Check the package for the rice. Different types use differing amounts of water.

I normally rinse the ever living fuck out of the rice, which should be short grained for best results. I then do a 1-1 ratio of water to rice. After its done cooking, I add a tablespoon of rice vinegar, a tablespoon of sugar, and 1/2 tablespoon of salt per cup.

make sure the rice is thoroughly washed

and after its washed put it in a sieve and let it dry the grains will look weird and opaque

after its dry let the rice soak for 30min to 1hr

if you use 2 cups use 2.5 cups water
