I've always been a fan of making my own pesto. Basil, olive oil, parmesan cheese, garlic, and some pine nuts.
Oh, and cranberry relish, too. Cranberries, a bit of orange, and sugar to taste, since some people like the tartness more than others.

Just because you're avoiding pasta doesn't mean you have to avoid pesto. It works just as well as a dip or a sauce for meat. I use it sometimes to make my own little variation on garlic bread, it's delicious.
