It's serrated because of the awful sharpening on the blade and it's not suppose to be serrated. Answer your own question.

I don't care what it's similar to and I know nothing about brands but I know a chefs knife isn't serrated and yours is with micro serrations and it's suppose to be smooth and sharp like a razor blade. It's easy to fix though. But 1.4116 is made for retention and rust preventing so you need to use something good, sharpen it well, let it do work then.

what I'm saying is basically they stopped 1/3rd or so in the middle of sharpening it to where it needs to be and didn't bother smoothing it out

like with sand paper on a wooden floor they stop at a low grit and you stain it and see swirls and marks all over instead of going to the higher grits and removing burrs, scratches, this that and making it great
