So... air fryers....
Are these things worth it? I heard that all they do is 'bake' food and not actually fry it.
"actually frying" would require immersing your food in hot oil, something which this device is expressly designed not to do.

Precisely.
It works really well for fries, just be sure to let the heat element warm up first. For snacks...It works aswell, they are cooked but they won't get that boiled skin you're used to.
Overall it uses almost no oil at all since it just circulates it around, even then it just takes a tablespoon of oil.
I guess if you didn't own an oven that's fine (college students or something?), but probably not.

Overall seems like a shit meme to me, only good if you literally didn't have a grill/oven

so these things still need oil, eh? i was convinced that the force of the air cooked these things 100%
false advertising i guess
surely it would dry out your food the way a hair dryer works. might be good for toasting coffee beans or making popcorn. but i think it's best use would be to cover up a stain on a bench top that can't be removed.

You basically get baked result with a light oil coating. Nothing else. My aunt made mackerel in one yesterday and it didn't ven crips the skin. Dissapointing/10

Went to a friend's party where he was very proudly showing off his air fryer. Dry, dry food.

These things are even worse.
I like that they're trying. Food shouldn't be oily if it's fried properly, but dealing with a vat of oil every time gets expensive. The idea of just using a tiny bit and still getting a "fried" result is appealing. The TV gimmicks just don't do it.
You're better off to just lightly toss things in oil and bake them.
i bought the tefal 0.5 kg one
advertised as good for fries
pure junk
expensive pure junk
could not return it
one of the worst purchases ever
never tried or used it again
fuck the french

the only real benefit over a convection oven is that the air fryer does actually get decent airflow over the contents. Definitely not frying though
>>7947939
holy shit that's a really bad photoshop
They're good for chips. You get a crispier coating than you get from oven cooking.

Why bother when a real deep fryer is better than either of those options?
you're just better off getting a nuwave or something

>Better off getting a nu wave
