There's a whole bunch you can do to give rice some flavour.

You can look up flavours of furikake (this stuff http://thymebombe.com/2011/02/23/what-is-furikake/) and make your own.

Finely ground meat/egg is good.

Salt and pepper is always good seasoning.

Toss some butter in before you start cooking.

Experiment with using different stocks and broths to get flavours you want.

Top with powdered parmesano cheese.

Buy rice that has a good flavour on its own instead of being bland.

Same as you OP, thoroughly rinsed jasmine rice with salt, I could eat bowls of it alone, every day, forever. In fact, I have been, for the last 6 months. Any time I get anything else it's usually just additional seasoning for the rice, or some veggies.
