Summer is here, making seafood paella (no chicken) for some friends, any tips on what I could replace mussels with?

Never cooked squid before so I am quite excited.

Spainfag here from actual part of Spain where paella is cooked.

What do you mean replace mussels? Squid is a mussel aswell.

>Squid is a mussel aswell.

What?
>>

I use prawns and squid but my recipe also has mussels in it. I don't really enjoy mussels so was looking for an alternative if there's one.

what do you mean with squid is a mussel?

There's tons of alternatives.
Chorizo, clams, cockles, pieces of fish, crab....use your imagination.
>>

Oh shit, sorry. I mixed mussel with mollusc.
My bad.

If you use big shrimps, clams, squid and fresh tuna you'll be good to go.

Just don't use any peas or mix it with any kind of meat.

>Cockles
Never seen those in paella, but could fit.
>Chorizo
Nope. NOPE. Paella causes debates amongs Valencians in Spain, but nobody sane would put chorizo in Paella.

Garlic, Onions and Olives are prohibited aswell.

>but nobody sane would put chorizo in Paella.

I've seen Jose Andres do it on a cooking program.

I think I'll go with prawns, cod and squid.

Aren't peas and onions in every paella? At least the ones I have had.

When spanish chefs become popular in other countries, they tend to overcomplicate traditional dishes so they seem flashier to foreigners.
Nobody puts chorizo in paella in Spain.

Pic related, Paella de caracoles (escargot paella). Looks nothing sophisticated, probably Jose Andres would never show that on TV.

Not in Spain. I mean, peas you might find, but that's pleb tier paella according to us faggots in the southern part of Valencia.

Onions never ever. Like, literally never saw that.
