Is rice still good if it has been in the fridge for 5 days? I've been hearing that it's dangerous to eat old rice, but is it just a meme?

Only one way to find out, OP!

What if I end up ded, my dear anonymous friend?

Then you'll know that eating old rice is a bad idea.

if it smells boozy or looks like a petri dish throw it out
if it doesn't microwave it and you're good
Only if your fridge is cold enough. In a sufficiently cold fridge, rice should be good for 4-5 days with 5 being the maximum. The danger in starchy foods is B. cereus. Here is an example of a child dying after eating 3 days old pasta because the fridge was too warm

WHEEE ANOTHER MEME THREAD!

children don't have fully developed immune systems and they tend to deteriorate very quickly when sick
the same could happen with eating a cold but otherwise fully cooked hotdog
Depends how it was stored in the fridge, but in most cases, sure, it's probably fine. I'll leave stuff that's mostly rice for 1 or 2 weeks before I finish it and I've never had food poisoning or anything.

Well no shit, but it doesn't mean that because children and old people are more susceptible to foodborne illness you are bullet proof. After cooking for a while in professional kitchens, I don't ever take risks with my food. Wasting some food/money is worth not getting sick and possibly dying.

It's not a meme, it's a very cereus matter.
Fuck, even rice can kill me?
I hate cooking sometimes.
