Had sushi for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd time this week. I have missed out for so long. Educate me on best sushi. Are the places with 1/2 off signs safe? Is this food healthy?

I really like Eel and get at least one order everytime. Same with tuna. I always ask for Toro but no one ever has it at the time. When it comes to rolls I stay away from cream cheese or anything fried.
of course you always gotta start with miso and get some warm sake.
>>7580241
"start with miso" you fucking baka gaijin you finish with miso
>>7580269
sorry I'm not a weeb. I've been to at least 20 different sushi places and every single one of them offer salad/miso to start.
>>7580280
salad yes miso no
it's just science the warm broth helps with digestion after eating
>>7580110
Be brave & go for the really flavorful stuff like uni & mackerel
It tastes like the sea, it's refreshing
>>7580110
>is this food healthy

and don't even get me started about california rolls
>>7580500
Just like how meat "causes cancer" when it raises the existing chance by a hundredth of a percent?
>>7580500
Here we go with the cancer meme again. You WILL develop cancer given enough time regardless of what you do to try to prevent it. It's a mutation not an illness. So shut the fuck up, smoke a cig, eat all the sushi you can handle and drink like a fish.
>>7580528
yolo
>>7580296
>mackerel
I can't eat fish with white meat, some odd allergic reaction to the protein, tuna and salmon are fine.
>>7580507
>>7580528
Not him but be careful of eating too much predatory fish like tuna since mercury levels are at an all time high and quite a few fish are having higher radioactivity levels now.
>>7580500
Nothing wrong with californian roll. Even though i personally dont like it and prefer traditional styles it is an interesting take and has extreme cultural significance
>>7580626
>higher radioactivity levels
Higher than, say, a banana?
>>7580241
Warm sake is terrible, just disguises the flavour.
>>7580631
Different type.
>he fell for the sushi meme
>>7580676
Anon, that's pretty cool!
I'd like to share mine. Check out this guy who fell for the "car meme"!
Today's dinner
>>7582522
>not covered in tempura
Come on, step your game up
>>7582536
meant to say fish eggs
>>7582539
Is only my 4th time, gosh
>>7582545
the second time I ate sushi I just got the full traditional platter
Two of every type of sushi the place had, including shrimp and eel to get me aquanted
The ones covered in fish eggs, along with the eel were the absolute best
>>7582522
that better be real crab and not imitation crab
>>7580562
What a shame, snapper makes for some of my favorite sushi.
Slightly related,
I'm making a simple sushi bowl tonight. One of my favorite lazy dinners. A bowl of cold sticky rice w/ a little bit of rice vinegar, cucumber, carrot, green onion, avocado, soy sauce, and hoisin.
>>7582557
Eel is fucking amazing. It's got such a rich texture and flavor. I have no idea why there's a stigma against eating it here in the States.
>>7582747
>Unagidon is probably one of my ultimate comfort foods, fucking tastes amazing and the texture is divine
I recently discovered a little hole-in-the-wall Japanese restaurant close to my apartment that makes this and I treat myself to it every paycheck Friday.
>>7580280
finish with miso bro
>>7582522
>no tako or uni
>>7582747
>Unagidon
gotta try myself some of this
>>7582747
new to sushi here, is unagidon supposed to have a fuck ton of bones in the fish? i tried it once and the bones werent so brittle that i could just bite through it
>>7582766
I've never had a problem with bones in mine before.
>>7582780
so are you saying yours has bones in it or not?
>>7580110
Thats not sushi.
The best are
Chuu-toro
O-toro
Maguro
Salmon
Unagi
Negi-toro
Uni
Kani
In that order
>>7582793
If it did, they were tiny and soft enough that I didn't notice. I don't think they had bones though.
>>7582755
patrician tastes.
>>7580295
I dont have a problem digesting food.
