I hate how there seems to be a trend to be "high end" with hamburgers by using that smooth brioche-style bun top. I disagree with the almost bagel-esque crust and fluffy interior, and much prefer a standard sesame seed hamburger bun.

I've seen this in one-off burger joints trying to be more high end, but now it's trickling down to Wendy's and McDonald's. Usually, technology is the case, with a new process/assembly machine being able to create this new style product at a more cost saving way. A few years back it was the lye pretzel rolls, now brioche.

Don't get me wrong, the quality of the bread is the most important part of a burger (albeit most unappreciated), but a squishier toasted bun much better suits a hamburger than these brioche style ones.

It's very rare that I eat at mcdonalds, but I had pic related 2-3 weeks ago, and again last weekend. It's pretty good, definitely better than the rest of the standard menu. I think it's promotional though, so I imagine it will be off the menu soon.

I don't know why they don't do promotions more often. They're usually 10x better than the standard menu. Come to think of it, I never feel like eating at mcdonalds unless theres a good promotion on (breakfast excepted - which I can never be arsed with, despite how good it is).

I've only had the Sweet BBQ Bacon, as a burger, and with "artisan" bun. Add lettuce & tomato.

It was good. I've ordered it a few other times.

The first time I ordered it, I got a notice asking me to fill out a survey for a $10 off coupon good for next time. I figure, why not.

Survey is over 60 questions long, took me 30-60 minutes to complete, working at it off and on.

Survey posed questions such as "Was the meat too juicy, too dry, just right?" and "Patty too thick, too thin, just right?" as well as similar questions for the bun, the sauce, the onions...every fucking component.

Other questions included things like "Where do you normally go to eat (burger & fries)?" including options like Five Guys, Carl Jr's, locally Red Mill, etc.

Also asked why I would choose something like Five Guys over McDonald's "signature burger".

They have 3 options for this burger and only one of them even moderately appeals to me, so I don't know where they come off thinking that I would rather have McDonald's limited options and lifeless meat over something like a fresh, juicy burger from Five Guys with their plethora of options. Not to mention Red Mill.

During the time I worked in Singapore I was amazed that there was 24 hour McDelivery. My guess is that it has to do with lower minimum wages. I made friends with a guy who used to work as a McDelivery guy and he told me that there was also no set roster and a very flexible schedule. If they needed you, they'd let you know. Also the McDelivery people would use their own motorbikes for the service.

Those are not food experts. Spent a day with a sommelier that also was a professor in tasting. He was amazing. He could identify types of wines, which year it was from and brand. Took part in a few of his tasting experiments too. He kind of said there is no food that universally taste good. It's up to the person eating. And if a "food expert" claimed something was good then people would tell themselves it was good.
