pls export my eurofriends. American beer is great these days but lagers are shit and neglected. Our big name lagers that gave American beer a bad rep are indeed awful. And smaller brewers are hesitant to make lagers because we associate it with Budwieser. I've found a few decent straight up lagers but I hope good lager becomes more popular.

I spent a few weeks in Germany one summer like 10 years ago. Bitburger is what I always drank. Iserlohner was second because the brewery was right there in town. I was 19 so I didn't know any better.

no, they seem to have their staple shitty beers which are weird cheap imports. generally O.K but not great, the wheat beer is pretty good.

Lidl and Aldi both seem to get random shipments of great beers occasionaly, I picked up some really good local brews and craft ales from an Aldi for around 90p each once. No idea when or why this happens but every now and again they have an incredible selection of beers in those weird isles where they keep the junk.

I've tried a few of their beers. Most of it is shitty but I really like Perlenbacher, Aldi seems to have a nice Pilsner at the moment as well, fuck knows the name though. What do you suggest for a nice larger? Been thinking of trying something new.

I'm not really into lager, Aldi sell erdinger and some passable german lagers though. they have some store brand ales that arent awful and a lot of seasonal offers

Bitburger is utter shit, it's like the German version of Bud. There are so many good beers here, why do people outside Germany only know about Bitburger and Becks? They are for utter plebs
