I'll begin
>classic cheddar pierogies
>boiled
>drizzled with melted butter
>topped with grinder sea salt
>serve with sour cream
10/10 poorfag food, and oh so delicious
>But Nobody You Know Has Any Knowledge Of
what the hell does this mean
everyone knows what pierogies are dude
Random Midwest thing, but since I've moved out of Ohio nobody knows pickled beet eggs and I fucking love them

Where's the onions
>>7381179
Nobody I know of has had a sloppy joe.
(Ausfaglia)
>>7381183
I was reminded of this the other day and have been craving it ever since. It's a slightly sweet, steamed bun stuffed with a tangy pork or chicken mixture. There's a soy based dipping sauce that comes with it and the whole thing is godly as fuck.
>>7381204
Sounds like the Samoan favorite, Pork buns.
>>7381204
Fuck forgot pic.
>>7381211
I'm sure it's similar. I know it's a lesser known Filipino dish. It actually takes a good bit of work from what I remember when my mom used to make it.
I kinda want to try and remake it but I can't bake for shit, let alone make these delectable sumbitches.
>>7381215
Yeah I googled it and they look really similar, as with the Cantonese version, Cha siu bao.
Did she steam them?
>>7381215
We got a recipe for it from our Filipino neighbor when I was younger. It's a Chinese dish by origin, I'm pretty sure.
They're fairly easy to make but time consuming. In a pinch, Trader Joe's has frozen ones that are pretty good.
>>7381204
>>7381214
>>7381215
Siapao? Fillipino? The fuck is this?
Those are baozi and they're definitely Chinese
>>7381243
Don't be a dick, there are many regional variants.
You can't prove China made it first even if it is quite likely.
>>7381183
Sloppy joes are shitty poor people food.
>>7381253
Even the artisan version in the pic?
I made them once and quite enjoyed it, still prefer burgers though.
>>7381243
A popular food item in the Philippines and Thailand, siopao and salapao do not require utensils to eat and can be consumed on-the-go.
Checkmate, atheists.
>>7381170
Nobody i know has knowledge of them.
That's not to say they are a big thing in parts of Europe, but everyone I've known in California, Nevada, and Utah wouldn't have a clue what a pierogi is
>>7381163
Pan fry them after you boil them and they'll be even better.
>>7381271
*aren't a big thing in parts of Europe
>>7381163
Pierogies are god-tier OP.
>>7381243
siapao is just a foreign bao
>>7381163
not really poorfag food i think, i never buy them because they're kind of expensive. like 2-3 euros for a package that doesn't have great nutrition
>>7381170
I thought so too. Recently though whenever I've mentioned pierogies I've always been questioned as to what they are.
Which is weird because they're almost like a fucking staple food in Canada. At least, pan-fried pierogies are.
>>7381163
> classic Polish food that everyone likes
> no one has any knowledge of it and is underrated
fucking poles
I guess to sort of contribute to the thread, I haven't heard all that much on jambalaya. Maybe it's just the communities I've been involved with, but nobody really cooks or knows all that much about it or spicy creole/cajun dishes in general.
It sucks, because I love me some jambalaya. It's top-tier winter food, right next to hearty stews and soups.
>>7381175
I HATE BEETS
>>7381163
Go to green point in Brooklyn, every polack on every second corner store is flogging these mother fuckers and other delicious shits wrapped in cabbage. Wouldn't say underrated, but they can be tasty.
>>7381243
I don't usually negotiate with terrorists but does anyone have a good recipe for the steam bread/dough they use for this style of bun?
>>7381364
Why such a salty faggot?
>>7381271
NVfag here we know what perrogies are.
>>7381334
No pole would call cheddar pierogis "classic".
Quark cheese all the way
>>7381386
I was born and raised in Las Vegas, faggot. Nobody has the inside scoop on pierogies there.
And just in case you were referencing any other part of Nevada, your post doesn't matter because Las Vegas > greater than the entire rest of Nevada
>>7381445
That's the only kind I've seen at stores, though.
I've checked online and found that some have meat in them, yet they don't exist anywhere I've ever lived
>tfw when I realize I'll never have a true perogi dinner that includes beef
>>7381460
You know, you could...make your own.
>>7381473
I'm not skilled (to say the least) in the culinary arts.
I'm decent with sauces, steaks, baked potatoes, and seafood pasta, but the magic ends there.
>>7381163
I used to prepare my pierogies just like this.
But I was shocked to discover what a disgusting plebian I was when I learned about frying them in olive oil after boiling. I tried going back to the no-fry method and literally gagged.
>>7381488
Honestly mate, I'm not the greatest cook either, but perogies are pretty damn easy. You don't even need to make your own dough for them if you don't want to.
https://youtu.be/91z7e22XGy8
Just look at how easy this shit is. He cheats with the dough.

Because I love freedom.
