What does /ck/ think of these little kombucha drinks? I just got the Synergy kind at walmart. I've also tried the gingerade one and its pretty tasty.

I've been making my own for a little over 4 years now.

3 gallons a week, and a batch costs like 1 dollar max, probably a lot less. Planning to up that to about 9 gallons once my new fermentation container comes in

If anyone has any questions or wants to know my set up, I've pretty much gotten the whole process down
or if anyone wants a starter and live near me
+1

Kefir and Kombucha are way too easy and cheap to make to find any kind of excuse for buying them out of a store

Plus they taste a lot better and are far more nutrient dense
>>
>>7377267
What flavors do you do? What kind of tea? How easy was it to set up? Do you prefer it with more alcohol or less?
>>
>>7377162
>ENZYMES

Is that what plants crave?
>>
My mom gets them for her migraine headache and RA. She says it takes the pain entirely away, but a year without pain is not worth suffering the taste.

Hello fellow fermenter!
I ferment a lot of stuff- but never kombucha.

What are you makign right now? I'm making the aforementioned kombucha, ginger beer and beer. Also helping a friend make wine. Might try kvass at some point too

>>7378997
That's the tea I use, jasmine black. I should switch it up, jasmine flavor is kinda trashy but it's been making me fantastic kombucha.

>flavors
i'm loving orange right now, just squeeze some orange in there, throw in a spearmint leaf in too sometimes for a nice blend. Also have a soft spot for ginger or cranberry.

Wicked fucking easy to setup honestly, I just make some sweetened tea (cup of sugar to a gallon and a half of tea), throw the mother in, then wait a week and drink. I just use the bottles + capper from making beer, it carbonates in like a day or two when I do it that way. Fliptops and just twist on caps usually take a bit longer.

my cappers too. The one on the right my dad gave me now that he puts all his stuff in soda kegs and force carbonates, the one on my left my wine-maker friend gave me recently. He just had it for some reason

>>7379514
also if your interested, its one of my favorite things to make. And if you like the flavor, which I find is pretty polarizing, its a great pick-me-up throughout the week

Inspired to make some kefir myself. Tired of paying $4+ for a container at my local yuppie Whole Foods.

Remember to second ferment it:

>drain once fermented
>remove/move grains
>leave in a glass jar or whatever for another 24 hours
>optionally: add some fruit/vanilla/sweetner for taste

This will add a ton more b-vitamins and make it thicker. But it will also make it fizzier/more sour so y'know, whatever works for you.

I've been adding banana recently, I find figs work really well for water kefir but suck with milk kefir.
