Ever start cooking something with no real idea where you're going with it?
Pic related. Bacon and green beans and garlic, cooked in olive oil and butter. I added some pasta because why not. I think I ended up creating a side dish instead of a main course though.

Not really. I usually spend my free time daydreaming about what I'm going to make for my next meal and putting together a plan in my head, which isn't to say I don't ever change things in the middle of cooking.

And planning your next shop with precision down to the product.
When can we get married?
I always start by cutting up an onion and heating a pan, we'll see where I go from there.

Our tastes most likely differ on too many things, honey, and we'd just fight all the time.

When I was first learning to cook I did this until I got tired of eating food that sucked.
Now when I cook it's usually not just one dish, but a few different dishes that compliment each other as a complete meal. And I work that shit out well before I pick up a knife.

Kind of. If I'm just trying to have fun and its something I could make blindfolded (stir fries, stew, tuna/chicken/ham salad, ECT) I'll play around with it and just throw in random things to see how it is.
Its not always as great as I imagine but i found a few good combos like roasted Brussels sprouts with craisins, apple, and walnuts glazed with balsamic and covered in parmesan.
That bacon looks pretty floppy and you should have chopped it up imo. Would probably eat though.
