Does anyone know any cheap(er) ways to make your self tall for a cosplay?
I'm only going to do this for one day so I don't need anything fancy, but stilts are like 300$.

Get some plastic tubs from Walmart, flip them upside down and glue elastic or Velcro straps to the part where your feet go.

Photoshop and smart angles. Do not bust your ass trying to be tall while walking around a con. No one actually cares and you will get hurt if you don't invest into a good quality height adjuster.

Elevator insoles can give you a small boost. I'm sure they're not the best for your feet, but if you're only wearing them for a few hours at a con I'm sure they can't do too much damage.
I really could had sworn I seen a platform you can just add to your shoes on the outside. Why in the fuck am I not finding it?
>stand in the middle of a cool room
>close your eyes, breathe deeply
>reach up to the ceiling
>try to imagine a force making all your bones grow in length
>try to feel yourself floating and getting taller
>whisper the words "grow, grow, grow" as you're doing it

You can get a decent pair of drywall stilts off amazon for $80. Just bought myself a pair of 15"-23" this week.
Anyway, common methods of making your own cheap stilts include stacking insulation foam or using PVC pipes. This is especially useful if you want to be less than 15", since that's typically the lowest that drywall stilts will go. Look up stilts on therpf and you'll find a lot of threads with knowledgeable people talking about how to make them. Good luck.

Forgot to add, bed risers can also be used for a decent boost. They come in sets of four, you'll want to connect two of them for each foot. I know Temjin has done this in the past, maybe he'll chime in with more specifics.

Not Temjin but he posted this pic for me when I asked about making risers for the feet of a Transformer costume; maybe it'll help you OP.

I agree with this as someone who has walked cons with various selfmade stilts for a while
Just stacking close-celled styrofoam or eva foam works well too, or hollow pipes (stuff them) or buckets with straps. But only do these up to about 25cm/10inches, anything higher will be extremely dangerous and uncomfortable.
