Posted in old thread, but a reminder the seller Mighty Ape has a single one left of picture related (black). Once again, pricier shipping if you live outside of Australia; the price of the item itself is also marked up due to importation. Though, it is likely one of the last ones available for purchase anywhere.

On the subject of replicas, is it wrong to make your own version of an existing shirt/hoodie/dress/etc if you have no other way of getting it (and it's even unavailable secondhand)? No selling it, obviously.
>>
>>9562999
Personal use and profit are a separate matter. go for it.
>>
>>9562999
Only if it is an obviously traced print replica, no issues with drawing or sewing something similar for personal use.

Definitely don't feel the love for her. The manga is only okayish to me as well. I do prefer gurokawa/darker clothing over menhera though so that might it

>I just don't see what the fuss is about and why there are collabs everywhere
Because the artist behind it is the one who coined Yamikawaii as Menhera's aesthetics. Also Kuua wouldn't have gotten in into Menhera if it wasn't for Menhera-chan (in fact, Kuua is the reason why most people found out about it when it was new in 2013 as she promoted it a lot, back then she was still into Fairy Kei, pic related), meaning the fashion itself wouldn't exist to this degree without it.
>>
>>9563559
Plus the first "season" of the manga is about to end in JP with the next chapter, the collabs are part of celebrating the finale which may cause a hiatus for years as Ezaki is busy with his work for the Seventeen magazine which features his angry girlfriend manga.

Do you guys feel that menhera has to have a cute aspect to be menhera? Or is a mental health/medical theme alone enough? I always thought cuteness was part of the key but stuff like >>9573140 isn't cute at all so maybe it's just how you style it?
>>
>>9577203
This thread has multiple different styles. There's menhera which is more specific to a state of mind coupled with cuteness, but there's also gurokawa which has a lot of your monsters and horror stuff. They're similar in appearance so I guess it fits in the same thread. The shirt is cool, and I honestly wouldn't stress too much. There's a lot that can be mixed and matched assuming you aren't too picky about defining things.
>>
I should also point out that cute is relative. It can be an image such as art, but the way you wear something can also make it cute.
>>
>>9577235
Thank you for spoonfeeding me, I'm a lolita and I've lurked menhera threads a bit before but still struggle to understand the style beyond the obvious stuff like the stereotypical silhouette. It's hard for me to pinpoint what is and is menhera when it moves away from the cliche of cutesy mental health imagery on baggy T-shirts with byojaku, thigh-highs and chunky shoes.
>>
>>9577284
>what is and is menhera when it moves away from the cliche of cutesy mental health imagery
That's the point when it isn't Menhera anymore, it's as simple as that.

>>9577284
You might get confused if you are looking for a strict set of criteria as seen in current lolita trends. For example, the baggy t-shirt + thigh high socks is only one way to style an outfit. It is common, but not required. It's is a cute way to style an outfit. There was discussion in the last thread, I think, showcasing outfits that broke that formula. As far as confusion on the cute mental health imagery, I might see where your confusion lies. There's arguably items that are not cute. The black/white suicide stockings that have made multiple appearances, picture related, aren't particularly cute. Tachi's art, such as the cellphone murder print, is not particularly cute. I guess in the sense of menhera, the ultimate deciding factor is does it allude to a negative state of mind? The stockings allude to suicide. The shirt alludes to frustration at fake friends on social media. Plus, the overall appearance when worn is cute. You aren't looking like an alternative clothing model or anything. (They all dress super sexy over where I live.) Medical themes as a whole kind of fit everywhere. You can wear it with a general creepy outfit, but it also fits in with negativity of the mind for obvious reasons. There's strictly medical themes without mental imagery but that would still fall in the confines of the thread since hospitals in general bring up feelings of unease in people. Hospitals are in horror movies so it's a good fit in outfits heavy on the scary factor. Take my rambling with a grain of salt though.

Mahoro, Amatsukami's "edgier" subbrand released a (misspelled) Menhera collection.
>>
>>9578891
Considering menhera is slang for "mental healther" and japanese often replace L with R is it really misspelled? You often get variations of stuff like this in Japan.
>>
>>9578937
It is, Menhera is spelled on purpose with an R in romanji because menhela=menhealer=prostitute.
>>
>>9578939
A lot of you wear bdsm stuff as accesssories for this so it's not so inaccurate.
>>
>>9578940

>>
>>9578970

>>
>>9578063
The men's size looks like it's a fitted men's though, even if you buy it in an L it might not have the right baggy shape.
>>
>>9580524
I agree it appears to be a fitted shirt, but the measurements listed are larger then Killstar's brand. Killstar only goes up to 44 while Cryoflesh goes up to 52 inches. The Cyroflesh model looks pretty beefy so maybe he's just wearing a smaller shirt size then he needs. (Mentioning Killstar as their men's shirts are definitely large enough starting at size S depending on your weight/height.)
>>
>>9580532
Do you have any pics of them worn on female models? I have a really hard time figuring out what sort of mens' sizes are most flattering on women (I'm relatively busty, so if I get it wrong I just look fat).

I'd say straightened hair makes more of an appearance here then in other fashion styles although rarely some wear it wavy or curly. The majority of girls seem to have the same style cut as you in some variation. There's plenty of pictures where the hair is just worn down. Otherwise, I agree with >>9593722 about twin tails being the main style. I see a lot of girls rocking the half-up/half-down style such as picture related. Although, full twin-tails and twin buns are also common. You really can't go wrong with all the options. The only thing I don't notice is your super full styles that involve a lot of teasing/volume. There's not much 'fussy' hair.

The leg syringe would look better more pastel/cartoony. I think it looks a bit like a pen right now.

Kawaiigoods stuff is always faded. It's cheap quality too. If you look closely the line work is shit. Looks ok from a distance then you get up close and it's MSPaint quality. A "professional" artist should know better than to have shitty shaky linework on finished products. Plus she thinks her stuff is brand and prices it as brand. Delusional much?
>>
I made the mistake of buying a bow from kawaiigoods. It feel apart after 3 uses. my friend got a Tshirt and when they got it it looked so faded like they owned for 10+ years. Quality is shit and overpriced too.
>>
>>9602218

>>

That's more the fault of the manufacturer tho, everything by AC is like that (hell, they are so shit, you can't write their name because it's in the filter).
>>
>>9596851
You need to wear some kind of biker shorts cause your underwear can be seen.
>>
>>9602454
Manufacture's fault or not, it's the brand shop's responsibility to select quality merchandise and weed out misprints or flunk items before selling to a customer. I would never sell sub-par products if a outsourced company sucks. Just look for better manufacturers.
>>
>>9602650
>Just look for better manufacturers.
I guess that's where the problem starts. For generic shirts it is easy to find someone but for everything else? Same reason for why Cherry still uses Digitalart while there are always issues, there is a lack of manufacturer's that don't require 100+ pieces for each print.
>>
>>9602443
She's "professional" in the sense that she's self taught and has been making items to sell. No actual professional education or training from an art or design school so.. yeah what do you expect?
>>
Kawaiigoods quality has always been shady. sorry you got ripped off by kawaiigoods with faulty items
>>
>>9602653
Completely agree the services available for custom printed apparel and merch is really limiting when you only want to produce a handful of stuff. But that's where the investment comes in.. invest in higher quality products that require that 100+ qty minimum. Sometimes it means saving money to be able to do that or open pre-orders to fill. It's not easy but it's far better to have 1 really amazing thing to sell than 20 really lackluster things

>>

>>
>>9603867
I'd use illustrator for making vectors/prints, because that way you can stretch the image into any size (billboard size etc) and the quality won't be affected and you skip out on blurriness.
>>
>>9603879
That's what I was thinking. Why is >>9603866 saying traditionally drawing and using those as a base for vector drawings is bad, then?

Not the same anon but because the software won't recognise scanned outlines as such, they will stay as uneven as they are + a shitload of cleanup work.

This design is so generic....I don't even know why there's such a fuss over it. Its two plasters crossed with some blood...in menhera fashion alone we've seen stuff like this 10000x times.
There's similarities and that sucks, especially if its hurting the "original" artist's sales, but honestly this is nothing to be that upset over.
>>
>>9615584
Definitely not plagerism you're right...the one on the left is the very original one KGs did
>>
>>9615603
I did find it extremely similar, but I wasn't about to jump on it. There's many designs that look similar to one another whether in concept or character design among most artists.

However, I too heard mention of other designs being ripped from similar designs. Usually, they aren't willing to mention exactly who she's copying though. If she's mimicking multiple designs then it makes it highly likely that, yes, the band-aid design is intentionally copied.
>>
>>9615603
This argument is irrelevant. The one posting to the artist alley fb group is trying to prove her point with KG's initial design which was not even produced as a pin. Her pin design is different enough. Both are generic though so I also don't see the point of arguing about who did it first.
>>
>>9615622
But her original intent was to rip her off which I find extremely disgusting. Yeah she changed it, but she was going to go ahead with that other one if she didnt say anything? What the fuck?? Thats not at all okay for anyone ever to think. Thats art theft
>>

>>

>>
>>9615629
She's not any more untalented then half the stuff I see posted or available both overseas and domestic. If she's stealing art, she deserves to be ousted because that's despicable. Someone has mentioned the bunny design might be ripped from a Japanese artist, but never mentioned the artist in question.
>>9615622
It's because of the competition. It's very poor taste to wait to see another design's success or production and then intentionally produce a nearly identical product.
>>
>>9615630
Well played.
>>
>>9615627
I don't care who "rips off" who when BOTH designs are generic and unoriginal. Unless it's an exact copy, you can't copyright "it looks similar" design. They are both literally MS paint quality drawings.

Definitely not supporting art theft in any way. If KG did steal the idea from MSD that's super shitty. The fact that KG has been accused of stealing other designs in the past makes this smell suspicious for sure.

HOWEVER. The design is so generic (I mean seriously...just google menhera bandaid or pastel guro and you get lots of visually similar stuff) I'm guessing what happened, based off of info provided in the AAI thread, is more like;

>KG makes a generic bandaid w/ blood design
>Menhera community is small. MSD See's this design and messages her like she said she did with a message along the lines of "Please don't steal my art; its too similar to mine!!"
>KG is now embarrassed because now MSD thinks she stole her design.
>KG changes it to please her. (something she is not obligated to do, but did to try and be nice, fake or not)
>MSG admits she stopped reading the messages so she didn't know what was up.
>Said "please don't make pins" on the initial message-way before KG showing their final design in the convo.
>KG gets a "Looks different enough now, thanks!" message from MSD. Thinks she's g2g.
>KG makes pins.
>MSG is now mad because she thinks her idea was stolen and is now more lucrative for another artist.

Like...art theft sucks. But from what I'm getting from the AAI post this sound like what happened more or less. The design isn't so unique that no one wouldn't have also thought of it especially in a fashion/art where band aids are a main motif.
>>
>>9615685
>>9615683
LITERALLY SAYS "THIS IS THE DESIGN FOR MY PIN"
>lol okay hun, thanks.

I would take that as a go ahead honestly?
>>
>>9615705
But why should she drop it if she also came up with the idea? That's like if I drew up a magical girl squad pin and someone else who also made a magical girl squad pin tells me that I'm copying their idea. Unless the idea being copied clearly a rip off... which is hard to prove when the design itself is so generic. The idea isn't even original?
>>
>>9615709
I don't get how anyone can look at >>9615683 and >>9615685 and not see
>MSD acknowledging it is a pin design
>MSD saying the design is good to go
Like if I were KG I probably wouldn't have gone forward, mostly because I would see how unoriginal and shitty the design was, but it's completely understandable she made this pin in the end?
>>
I'm laughing my ass off at the "send a cease and desist!" comments. Does no one know anything about the legal system?
>>
>>9615717
That, the lawyer and getting it copyright is sooo hilarious over indie brand vs indie brand that literally no one gives a shit about. What's the profit margin? $100?
>>
>>9615717
A C&D would have been the most likely choice if you got the money for a lawyer. They'd certainly take this for the right amount of cash. However, no C&D, no matter how good the lawyer, would hold up with those messages. Yes, one side could say they didn't mean to say that, but the law would rule it doesn't matter. Permission was given.
>>
Honestly, the best way for KG to likely handle the backlash is to agree not to sell the pins until the previous stock with MSD is depleted. I'm not voicing my support for either side with this because it is a fucking mess. However, that could be the most peaceful way I could see KG settling this sticky situation.
>>
Yeah but KG has been following this artist. I remember her posting about MSD. A reblog of MSDs syringe pin
>>
>>9615727
KG is offering to give them away but people pay for shipping . Either way KG gets money
>>
>>9615731
>free but people pay for shipping
>KG gets money
That's not how that works
>>
>>9615724
Yeah, maybe a shitty lawyer. A shitty lawyer will do anything you want for cash. I agree with you other comments though, she has no legal leg to stand on in this case. She gave permission. End of story. Be less dumb next time idk.

>>9615727
I don't think that's really fair in this situation. KG was operating under a go-ahead from MSD. And MSD has been complaining in previous AAI posts that she isn't making much from her art stuff, so who knows when the stock would run out? Also, menhera is a "fad" just like every other niche fashion. I love it, but who knows if it will still be popular enough to move a mass amount of pins in even half a year?
>>
>>9615739
I just messaged her page with my thoughts directly so I could better word my suggestion. Also, at this point, I don't feel right just talking about the whole situation anonymously. Whatever happens is what happens.
>>
I didnt know so many people were so passionate about kawaiigoods.
>>
I will say that KG's followers need to stop fueling the fire with sock puppet accounts and hate mail. Just stop. That solves absolutely nothing. It just makes it worse. There's definitely some reason for ire here understandably since the decision was foolish. On the other side, people don't need to be bringing up people's parenthood into this on account of said followers. Also stop. That's just responding to bitchiness with bitchiness and then it spurs an unending cycle of bitchiness. This isn't the way to handle it.
>>
IMO this whole thing is really dumb, it's like saying two lolita designs with bows and puff sleeves are too similar and therefore one is copying the other. I don't have any experience with KG or know anything about her engaging in art theft before this (does anyone have receipts?) but from her posts she seems to be really upset about this which doesn't lead me to believe that she was intentionally copying the other girl's design.
>>
>>9615767
Which is why I prefer having the discussion here or on either of the fb posts. I don't think PM'ing either will do any good if they're being flooded by hate messages. Everything about this is so petty.
>>
idk why anyone is surprised. these folks latch on to an interest and make something to profit off of whatevers trending in that genre instead of thinking up an original concept. remember shooting stars with pastel tails and melty moons or those dangling stars for the hair? all of em doing some rendition and then complaining about each other stealing the idea they got from the original japanese source

To people claiming this is such a generic and not plagiarized design. Please on google, try to find crossed bandaids with the blood as well as heart or star on the center area. There are none I looked. Plus in both of their initial designs they had the same color scheme in the exact same areas. Thats much too coincidental. There are more pastel colors besides pink and blue. As for those saying "oh she changed it enough in her final version." Well originally she wasnt going to change it at all. And she was trying to get away with ripping off a small artist while shes a large artists with thousands of followers.

I think its really shitty now that MSD is getting publicly and privately harassed and thats very not okay. MSD appeared to be trying to deal with the whole thing very privately without naming names. But here KGs is complaining to her huge following on facebook about this and people have started to harass the designer.

Usually seagulls are so good about telling art theives to fuck off. I dont know why there is such a divide in this thread. I am ashamed for all of you.
>>
MSDs page is no longer there. Maybe KG followers got to her? I know I KGs followers were sending messages to MSD and posting them on KGs page.
>>
>>9616286
Yeah I noticed that too... I'm really upset to hear how KGs without regard to MSD (or maybe she wanted it to happen idfk), unleashed her massive following onto her for harassment.

This whole thing is all sorts of level of fucked up right now
>>
>>9616280
I told KG that the design was a very poor choice. It's really shitty that there is people now slinging hate mail left and right. That's... not how this should've went down at all. This is shit show.
>>9616301
MSD shouldn't be deleting her page, and she had the right to feel miffed. That really is a bummer. Flooding people with hate mail is wrong. KG should address for her followers not to be harassing people. She should not be encouraging this behavior. She should seek to dissipate this behavior.
>>
I don't think KG wanted this to get out of hand. She is known to throw pity parties and complain but she doesn't intentionally do it to harm other people. She has low self esteem and wants validation from others that what she did was not wrong. Or asking on her fb page what should she do about these kinds of problems... since she doesn't seem to know how to handle these things herself. I agree her followers should not be harassing MSD.
>>
>>9616301
>>9616286
I'm pretty sure she only disabled her page until the shitstorm calms down. FB is never this fast with making pages gone.

>>
>>9616813
not really I think. I'm expecting fun times there today.
>>
>>9616431

naw, i disagree. kg ALWAYS throws these pity parties to get others to buy her stuff and fight her battles. it's not the first time. plus, she knows her "friends" that are strongly opinionated. that's how things go down without her actually confronting her opposition. it happens over and over again of you follow her long enough
>>
I've been looking for cute quality thigh garters and general garters for menhera. What sort of brands sell them ?
>>
>>9616913
How did she even get a following? Her merch is so ugly.
>>
>>9617549
Because everyone and their mom got her fuzzy bear hats (pic related) and hairpins but then she popped out children, started to focus on printed clothes and that's where it went downhill while she still had quite the following due to Lovely Lor, Pastelbat and Co.
>>
>>9617549

"kawaii" "goods" back in the day it was like one of the first things that popped up when you searched for kawaii stuff to buy but didn't know where to buy and weren't gonna pay high ss fees.

she's not original so she's good at copying whatever accessory is popular at the time. so why buy from the original when you can buy her knockoff crap.

also as the other person said, she gave out a lot of product to photogenic bloggers to review and advertise her stuff instead of taking better pictures and making better products. she ends up moaning over these "models" cause they stop reviewing after a while

Agreed. Don't forget it was KGs who posted MSDs personal info out so her followers could attack her. Also before KGs deleted the post crazy Party Kei girl Jill was right there talking shit about MSD. So that is two people with big followings that harassed MSD.

Okay sorry to bring this up again gulls but I was investigating into KG because of the rumors of art theft with little to no evidence to back it up. Recently from looking through both MSD and KGs stuff look at these interesting finds I've made. Done my best to present it in a... sort of organized matter. Hope it makes sense.

Bonus KG ripping off CC. I'd noticed it with the new bunny bandage tights for a bit now but I thought it might have been too generic to bring up. But with how many "coincidences" KGs has been having I thought I might as well bring it up for the record. Also stumbled across these weird syringe tights from KGs that have very little info. No social media posts (or deleted) and the picture was found through google images. But looking through her "sold" history on etsy its also there (page 11 iirc)

I'm 95% sure everyone who was defending her here before were friends of hers since everyone on cgl actually hates her work lol. I'm so happy to see legitimate receipts now here. Ive always heard rumors of her shady business practices but never actually saw much evidence.

Is everyone scared to speak out against her because she has a large following and those who speak against her supposedly get harassed by these people ? That's so shitty if that's the case. People need to speak out so she doesn't continue to make money of this shit
>>
>>9619763
I have to agree with >>9619819 on this point. I remember when almost every kawaii themed store sold their shitty knockoffs.

I think its this and because she knows and/or is friends with a lot of popular lolitas.
>>
>>9619746

>>
>>9619996
>I think its this and because she knows and/or is friends with a lot of popular lolitas.
I don't get it. What can they even do to you if you speak out against KG? /cgl/ proves that there's at least a silent majority that can't stand her or is indifferent to her.
>>
I don't have her on Facebook and don't want her on mine. But if anyone has her please keep us updated if she or her friends start talking about the "bullying" on cgl. I really want to know how she's going to deflect this evidence
>>
>>9562503

what do i search on here to find these cases?
>>
>>9620109
I think people would be afraid of the backlash, especially the weak willed ones. Whoever speaks out would probably get attacks from KG's fans, a popular lolita or jfash blogger she's friends with and that blogger's fans as well.

This whole situation has made me so aggravated. This seems like such a huge injustice that isnt being resolved because of fear of her followers. The way KGs handled it was so fucking immature too because she DID release her fans, friends, and followers onto MSD. So I guess peoples fears arent unfounded
>>
>>9620109
>What can they even do to you if you speak out against KG?
1. Reporting all your social network profiles.
2. Leaking your personal data like they did in this case.
>>
>>9619819
>>9619996

but it is evidence she doesn't have original ideas, which if you follow her long enough you'll see and it gets annoying
>>
>>9620121

basically she makes a post on fb. everyone comes to her side and builds her up with compliments and then she deletes the post. <- that's her pattern

people really have to be actively screencapping her because she's an active deleter. the only other huge take down she got caught was when she was trying to sell a dress as new and never worn but there were pics of her wearing at a meet. that only worked cause pics existed

honestly the best way to get to her is just not buy her stuff. she'll make pity posts and "friends" will bail her out but "friends" can only do that for so long. eventually they'll have to get sick of her crap or want to spend money on something else.
>>
>>9620405
True. Those pills are just the resin bezel findings everyone uses. I think her stuff is shitty, but some of those examples are reaching.
>>
>>9620441
It's not reaching because, even while something has been available for long, it's obviously not a coincidence that she only starts to sell something few weeks after someone else did, like the pill example.

For what, exactly? Most social networks have consequences for frivolous reports. And you can report them back, too.
>2. Leaking your personal data like they did in this case.
To whom? You're already on Facebook, so you must not be very hush-hush about who you are to begin with. Even if they "leak" it to the "mean people" of the internet, they'll just go "not your personal army, fuck off".
>>
>>9620516
>both artists copying and selling dated 2012 Tumblr mahou shoujo feminist aesthetics (though the first actually uses Sailor Moon copyrighted shit with probably no permission)
Wew, a rip-off of a rip-off. I'm not saying KG isn't trash, but the unoriginality of these brands is just starting to hit me.
>>
>>9620526
1. doesn't need a reason, FB takes down pages automaticly if too many people report within a short period, happend to plenty of people before (guess why her FB is gone)
2. in this case, her adress got leaked because one of KG's shopowner friends has her as customer before
