I'm currently working on a STALKER bandit cosplay that I just need to do a few small finishing touches on.

Making a Pulse Blade pilot from Titanfall 2. Still WIP, but almost done. Surprisingly everything basically went to strapping armor pieces and pouches to my old OTV replica, making the helmet and some more pieces. Only photo I have at the moment. Yes, I'll redo the jump pack straps to put it higher.

Not really. Not much I can do that fits my appearance. Well, technicaly WH40k Imperial Guardsman sorta-kinda-counts-but-not-really

Mixed, really. On one hand, these get ridiculous sometimes. On the other hand, there were incidents with idiots with airsoft guns.

On topic, why has no one done EDF cosplays? I might do a Ranger for Katsucon next year. EDF 5 is coming out and the new Ranger design looks like it'll be easier to put together with some tac gear, alot of it is still custom though.

Monster Hunters International might actually be a fun cosplay to do. Plus the author actually seems to know what he's talking about when it comes to guns.

Trying to put together a Steel Legion Guardsman cosplay. Only part I'm really having difficulty with is the coat, which a friend suggested I either make do with an old Belgian parka I have or dye a cheap lab coat. Otherwise I've got a gp5, an old Swiss helmet, a bunch of webbing and a bolt pistol my brother made for me.

As a soldier and a reenactor, youve hit the nail on the head.

If I were those guys I would buy a few cans of spray paint pick out a Matt grey, white, and a few browns. Mist your your uniform and kit with them to create the illusion of stains and filth.

Using sand paper rough up areas which would normally see a loy of stress, such as the knees or elbow.

A personal favorite of mine is to put the uniform on and do some dirty activities (phrasing?). Dig a trench. Take a swim. Don't actually destroy your things but make it realistic. Wear the boots till they adjust to your feet. Barring that, teabags produce great stains

You can also hose your stuff down and then throw it up on the roof for a day to give it a light fade without ruining the fabric.

That being said, don't do this to original stuff if it's not easily found. Like yeah weather the shout out of that woodland BDU set but please don't fuck up like a palma Smersh or original Denison smock.

On a related note to that pic, holy shit was it hard to find an old school looking leather shoulder harness. I contemplated making one but I was under time constraints. The closest thing I could find to his hip harness was a rock climbing harness and I wasn't paying $150 for that so I stayed up two nights before my last con until 4am making one

I'm making my first "gear" cosplay a humanized D-Dog from MGSV, and I plan to use the standard DD uniform to build on top of with things from one of his skins.

From what I've learned in this thread so far, it looks like I'll need an olive BDU, but I'm not sure what the shoulder parts are called. Is there anything else I should throw on to make it look more put together or recognizable?

My guess would be the Jacket is *based* on a BDU Pattern, but as you can see they seem to have a yellow inside. The Arm thingies IIRC are used by Military Police, but I forgot the name. You couldn't use them anyway though. As you can see they seem to be sewn onto the sleeve on Top and bottom. Also real ones are not made of leather. You have the same leather pieces at the bottom of your pants, IIRC. For the gloves stick to Nomex gloves. Buttpack and LC-2 Belt, as well as your Holster. You *could* pick the American UM84/M12 Holster, but if you want to be more accurate to the game, you should pick a Russian Yarigin Holster and remove the magazine pouch on top. In either case you'd have to custom make a thigh adapter, or buy a expensive one off Amazon.

So with a DD-Soldier you'd have a lot of custom work. If you go for recognizable stick to that, as a Human D-Dog would hardly be recognized as such. Aim for something more recognizable instead. Human Versions often end up looking off. But if you wanna do it, go for it.
