Hi, /cgl/! I'm about as new as new gets, but I've been interested for a while, and I've found that the best way to learn something (for me, at least) is to jump into it. Sorry that it's just a pic. My computer's battery is dead, and I need a new one before I can edit anything.

Long time lurker, have rarely posted outside the LARP thread, only ever did a payday cosplay a couple years ago. Me and my friends have all recently got into playing Darkest Dungeon.

We're pretty amaturish at cosplays, but decent at cosume making although havn't done anything for a few years.

Seems like a great group cosplay to do between us and the vauge-paper-doll art style leaves plenty of room for interperation and of course, room to not-be-absolutely-perfect, which is great for some semi-first timers.

Do you think literally anyone would recognise the game characters? I mean it seems fun just for us to do ourselves but it would be nice to see if others would recognise or appreciate the effort, rather than just folk saying the "Praise the Sun" at the Crusader.

I think we'd aim for the more unique designs, like Arbalest, Bounty Hunter and Leper since some of them can just be pretty vauge fantasy. We did also muse about getting a "Stress" prop, of the icon that appears when a character takes stress damage as an extra tie in.

Any thoughts?

That's an awesome idea for a group cosplay. The game has kind of a cult following and is generally well liked by people who have played it. If you were going to do it and wanted to be recognized, I'd say go as the first four characters (crusader, cleric, highwayman, and plague doctor) but all the other character designs (especially lepper) are all really cool.

I think you guys should do it however you want in terms of characters. Maybe look into the makeup that people use for borderlands cosplays?

I think Tekken would be a great choice for your group. Pic related color coded: Red for fat guy, Blue for skinny guy, Orange for you.

I Chose Tekken 7 characters/outfits just because it's newest but any Tekken with bob in it could work too.

I think Bob would be really good because he's one of the few fat characters that isn't really presented as a fat joke. Pretty much everyone in Tekken is super buff so I chose characters who are mostly or completely covered for the skinny one, other than that it's really just based on his face and personal preference. You have a lot of options and it really just depends on which one you like best imo you fit all of them pretty equally.

Not sure where else to ask this, but what's the general consensus on joke or meme cosplays?

Would anyone be amused by, say, a genderbent Robbie Rotten cosplay? I have a bit of a manjaw and wanted to make light of it in a way that might be funny to people other than myself

I think they're generally pretty well received, I've never done one so I can't say for sure what it's like first hand though. /cgl/ takes cosplay super seriously- arguably too seriously,- and joke cosplays are an easy target for criticisms so in a similar vein to casual versions of characters they're not very well liked here, but I think it's different everywhere else.

I think especially if you put effort into it, it could be funny but also really cool in a memey way. Though I'd act fast if you want to do it because the meme is bound to die any second now.

Idk how active this still is but first post I made on these. Sorry if the pics or the template aren't that good.
I'm mostly looking for something I can spend some time on until this winter. I'd love to do something that involved lights on it, and some armor since I love making it, or makeup too since I want to get good at using it in my cosplays.
