Not that anon, but I think it looks cheap because in the stock photos it appears to be made of that shitty, ita-tier, polyester lace fabric and one of those iron on appliques you can get at joann's or something. It looks great on the model but the stock photo details make it look really cheap imo.

The "cheap lace fabric" isn't polyester raschel lace, it's eyelash lace. Kind of a newly popular thing because it's thin and airy and doesn't feel rough like cheap raschel does. Baby has used it as an overlay on a dress, though the name escapes me right now. Veil in pic related is also eyelash lace, does it also feel cheap to you?

The "cheap lace collar thing slapped on the front" only has that association to you because apparently you've seen a lot of cheap lace collars. In reality they weren't meant to be used as collars in the first place, they're meant to be sewn onto clothes, which means they should be soft and drapey, which means they're going to look flimsy (and therefore cheap) if someone tries to use it as a collar on its own. You can either look up venise lace or chemical lace to doublecheck the info. Baby/aatp actually trims a lot of their dresses with them.

I've seen some really high-priced shoddy stuff come out of baby/aatp, so I don't really blame you for being suspicious of their quality, but this isn't it. The material here is pretty decent. I'd be more worried about the items arriving shoddily sewn and with frayed edges sticking out everywhere than the quality of the materials.
