Alright, seagulls
I'm on a quest to achieve my personal aesthetic ideal. I love larme, so I will be building my look around that.
I've slowly began building my wardrobe, but now I need to work on myself, as a person. I've decided to start with hair
I'm interested in getting hair extensions, but I'm not sure what the best way to approach it is
I've done research and it seems that micro-bead extensions are the healthiest way to go, but seem considerably more expensive that the other ones
Have any of you ladies gotten extensions done?
Did you do full or partial?
How much did it cost?
Also, what are your experiences with using groupons for beauty treatments?
>>9139744
Have you considered those halo extensions or clip ons? Or are you set on getting sewn in wefts?
>>9139753
I definitely can't do clip ins, because my hair is very short and very fine
I haven't heard much about the halo, though
Can we just make this a general Hair thread?
Would putting silver over chestnut brown hair turn it to ash brown? I have some leftover pravana from my silver hair days that I'm hoping to use up.
>>9139744
I had to google since I'd never heard of this before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR0BocxfIPo
It looks pretty cool but also labor intensive; I feel like they're gonna be really expensive to get. If you haven't gotten extensions before then maybe try some clip-ins first. Remember that extensions aren't forever - depending on how fast your hair grows and how long you want to keep them, you may be going back to the salon every 3-4 months.
If you can't financially support that kind of schedule then try getting clip ins. They aren't as tacky as you may think; you can find really nice clip ins that look and behave very naturally. If this is your first time getting extensions, then it may be worth the "investment" to get clip-ins first and wear those for a couple months before diving into the more expensive stuff.
>>9139766
>>9139801 here, I should've updated thread before posting. How short is very short? Wouldn't microbeads show through short hair as well? As long as the clips can grab then it shouldn't be a problem to use clip-ins, you would just need to work in a lot of smaller wefts closer to the top of your head to blend your short length with the extensions.
>>9139766
I've heard the halo is a good way to add an even layer of hair into your natural hair. However, the circumference is really small apparently. So if you have an average, below average side head size, you should be alright. How short is your hair though? I watched a how to video on the halo extension and it looks like you should have at least shoulder length hair for it to blend well.

No, it's unlikely to go truly ash brown. Might give it a very very slight tint but that's about it
Any tips on helping taming a center part? I like using my natural hair for mori and my bangs have finally grown out enough. I want to go really classic innocent center part but the front strands of my hair naturally fall forward. I know I could pin it or braid it or whatever but I'd also like to just have it down normally with some soft curls!
>>9140850
This is cute but basically impossible to do if you don't have very thin hair.
>>9141296
Actually you need thick hair as the Japanese girl in the photo has. With thin hair you'd get zero volume, the curls would be flat to my head
>>9141329
I'm pretty sure you could puff them out anon. I have very thick hair and I've tried doing it. The pinned sections just collapse under their own weight.
>>9140801
Anon I use clip ins (from Milk + Blush) and we have a similar length, you just need to know how to work it. I have very thick hair, so I got it thinned and also lots of layers in both my natural hair and my extensions to blend better. And I always style them curly that helps too.

>you just need to know how to work it.
Not them but I went to cosmetology school like a million years ago and could not for the life of me get good at doing any kind of hair stuff. I've improved over the years since then but still, I can't "get good" so to speak.
I honestly think some people just aren't gifted in the hair area. I'm great at nails, but not hair.
I have to go to a fucking salon and have something like this done. I could never do this myself. I could attempt it but sure it'd look like shit and I can't afford that if I'm wearing lolita.
Anyway, I'm glad OP posted about this because yeah, I'm looking into getting extensions but I think all the salons in my area just do sewn in, which is fine for me.
>>9139766
I can't do clip ins either, because I want to be able to run my hands through my hair.
i'd also like to know if anyone has used groupon for beauty treatments...there are some really good deals on liposuction right now that kind of interest me
>>9141339
With thicker hair you need some support underneath - backcomb before you tuck the hair under the elastic and use product.
>>9142482
Those always look super interesting but I never know anyone that would go with me or if that stuff is even legit... there's a fucking coupon for it - seems sketch.
does anyone have short hairspo? ill dump what little i have
thats all i got!
>>9142474
Oh anon I got my hair + extensions cut at a salon! I'd look terrible if I tried doing it myself. The only thing I had to learn is how to style it properly ie. using hair curlers!
>>9142482
actual liposuction or like the coolsculpt/ultrasound ones? Either way my thought is there's a reason there's a coupon, the best places don't need to give out coupons to get business. If it's somewhere that's just relatively new and advertising then it's probably legit, but you don't want to end up with problems from an unskilled operator (like uneven fat distribution or lumpy fat or even skin damage from not using the thing properly)
>>9143197
the ones i've seen have been for laser lipo, primarily
Requesting photos of rose gold ombres and/or brunette hair with pink highlights
>>9143202
I saw those too. After reading up on them a ton, it seems like the difference they can make is very, very small. Depending on your body type it might not be noticeable at all.
Any easy half-up tutos for BSL hair?
>>9143563
I'm not large and I'm naturally curvy already. i'm interested in refining my curves and maybe tonight down the cellulite
I've seen before and after pics, but i'm also scared of some of the side effects of liposuction are going to apply to the laser version
any thoughts or experiences?

then why do you want to waste money on ~lasers~?
go tone up and diet.

>>9143808
Some people like using Groupon -- chill.
>>9143808
Some people have some smoothing they would like to get done even if they aren't fat. Just like most girls have cellulite or stretch marks due to growing. Chill the fuck out.

Welp, while this thread seems to be the stand-in hair general:
Does anybody know of a good box dye for Taro or even plain Silver/Ash tones?
Been wanting to get a color like this, but a lot of my wardrobe is pastel pink. Is it gonna work?
>>9139766
It's extremely easy to make a halo extension by hand instead of buying a premade one. I knew a lady who made them quite frequently for other co-workers at the salon. All you needs is wefted hair, fishing line, clips, and a measuring tape. The extension actually should sit farther up on the scalp and the clips give extra support. As long as your hair is chin length and doesn't have super short layers near the scalp, the halo extension will blend in. It can help to make a set of two tiny clip-in extensions with one or two clips for the front of your head.
To add to that, some wefted extensions are created with a thinner band that blends better with thin, fine hair.
>>9146260
Plain silver hair? I've seen a lot of people walking around with color from the Feria Smokey Pastel line. They have a beautiful silver color. (Warning: Feria is likely to contain metallic salts.)
Wella at Sally's Beauty Supply has T14 and T18. T18 is pure purple toner while T14 is blue-purple and therefore distinctly silver-toned. The line makes other toners in varying dilutions of ash.
Unless you are wanting ash brown... then that would be a different story.
>>9148381
Why would that not?
>>9140857
Anyone know what she's doing step 4 to 5?
>>9158045
Essentially she's pulling the base of the connected strands through the loop to create a twist. It's hard to explain in better detail in words but she grabs the base of the connected strands, flips it up, then pulls it through and down to create a twist. I hope that makes sense.
>>9158045
Drew a pic for you, but basically pull the tail of the Y so it wraps around the intersected parts. The arms of the Y will twist as you pull the tail through. Tighten elastic as needed.
Bumpin' this thread.
Why do you want extensions exactly OP? If it's because your hair is currently shorter and you want longer hair my advice to you would be to avoid them altogether as they're extremely counter-productive to growth.
