WTF sales general.

A thread to make you laugh and enlighten sellers. I'll start off with this, hot off the presses.

Don't bother discussing the normie garbage on LM unless it's something really special
>>
>>8687761
...that's a fair price for the particular print/cut, anon. If it's in like-new condition, then that price is definitely justified. It's a fairly popular print after all.

Not so much of a WTF but more of a 'social etiquette for sales'. is it ever appropriate to comment on the amount someone has listed an item for, publicly at least?
>>
>>8687780
tbh sometimes I wish this would happen, but not in cases like this where there's high demand for a piece. I just hate seeing newbies get scalped on something like a lucky pack item or similar things.
>>
>>8687761
I don't understand what your issue is with this listing. It's ETC, so it's appropriate to list on LM, and the price is fairly reasonable. What's the problem?
>>
>>8687799
Anon probably thinks that all ETC sells secondhand for $50~$100, topkek

>>
>>8687808
I didn't know that. I like it and have bought a few pieces very cheap.

Back to the topic, wtf is with sellers stuffing your envelope with random etsy cards? Is it their friends? Surely no one has 20 different etsy shops of their own
>>
>>8687923
Sellers probably swap cards so they can then get promotion when someone buys something from a shop that isn't theirs. Seems like a good idea if it's just a couple of cards.
>>
I don't understand people who post things up for sale with photos of their animals either sitting on the clothes or even wearing them.

There's a girl trying to sell an Anna cosplay that she made herself on the Disney cosplayers group. It wasn't too bad but if you go through the photos not only has her dog been on it but also her cat. She even put part of it on the dog.

Does anyone else find that odd?
>>
>>8688183
I can't remember where I saw it, might have been LSE, but somebody posted a picture of a pair of wristcuffs modeled on her cat's tail. No thanks, I'll pass on the wrist hives.
>>
>>8688183
isnt that for like proof though?
but no on the pet thing..
>>
>>8688183
Hm, it's kinda hard to judge. On one hand, you'd want to present your clothes in a good way and pets are simply not a good way. But on the other hand, it's their choice and they are free to incorporate their beloved pets, since other pet-lovers might find it cute. You are free not to buy it.
>>
>>8688253
>>8688359
These weren't exactly proof photos but more like her making it and the process. I just didn't see the point in including them when you're trying to sell something. They were lying on top of the clothing. I love my pets but I don't let them go on my clothes especially when I go to sell them.
>>
>>8687780
I think it might be more acceptable to haggle with the seller privately if you must do it. OT but to be fair, this set was pretty cheap to begin with tho, and imo it isn't /super/ popular. I think $150 is reasonable.

I wear a lot of vintage and it shows how insane vainty sizing is. According to that chart my bust is between a small and medium and waist and hips are an xsmall. One of my favorite 50's dresses is labeled at size 16 and is a perfect fit.

This drives me fucking crazy. Tea Party is a model of shoes from AP. It's not a cut/style of shoes in general. It's literally AP's specific shoe.

This is like calling a random dress Sugary Carnival JSK. Or Elizabeth OP because it's a lolita JSK/OP.
>>
>that fucking price
This shit is still in stock on IW's site!
Even more unbelievable is that an American bid on it... She could get this set for $50 less, firsthand.

Then again, I always see this seller listing items with ridiculously inflated prices, including stuff she just bought from LM, then turning around and immediately relisting it with a $50 increase.

>>8690489
I really wish she would stop listing more of these over and over and over and over again. At this point, she's just an ebay seller with 200 pieces of stock. That's not what Lacemarket is for...
>>

>>
>>8690742
Yes. I got this release as well, I paid ~$290US to IW after taxes and shipping. And this listing doesn't include shipping from this seller.

I know UK gets charged out the ass in customs but a) unless she's selling to an EU buyer that's way more than anyone would have to pay to buy it direct and b) I'm baffled by this American bidding because, like I said, she could pay $50 less for it straight from IW.
>>
>>8690497
Are you OP or are we having a rash of idiots mad over nothing?
>>
does anyone else think it's weird for someone to ask for $5 less on something you're already selling for less than $50? It just seems exceedingly cheap to me for some reason, like the old ladies who offer a dime for stuff priced a quarter at a yard sale.
>>
A girl in my local comm just posted this. I'm extremely new and haven't attended a meetup yet so I don't feel comfortable calling her out. Plus I'm worried someone will defend her
>>
>>8692066
This is absolutely not lolita in any way whatsoever. If you call her out, try saying something like 'I didn't think leggings were seen as lolita' instead of 'you ita bitch' so people won't lose their shit at you. But if this is what she tends to wear, please call her the latter at some point.
>>

>>
>>8692066

To be fair, you can absolutely wear leggings in lolita, so long as you wear boots higher than where the legging ends. I've done it for cute leggings that were advertised as tights online. If you're new, I wouldn't say anything; you'll make a poor first impression and risk looking like an elitist/drama monger.

>>
>>8692409
uhhhh...you can get older ETC pieces for $20 (or sometimes even less). Some of it is cheap, and justifiably so if the skirt is too small to fit a petti and/or if the cut is wrong for any discernible Jfash.
>>
>>8690428
Yeah, your bust is actually crazy tiny. I've never seen a bra band below 26", so unless you're a true 1-2" difference A/B cup where do you even buy bras? I've never seen an adult size chart that goes below a 30" bust and a lot don't go below 31 or 32. My bust is a few inches bigger than yours and a lot of Japanese one-size clothes are too big.
>>
>>8691984

there are some situations where the person has slightly less in their paypal than you're asking and they don't want to dip into their bamk account. other times, though, it's just about the person's budget and the hard limit they've set on spending. some people have a very set price in their minds.
I had a similar situation but the person asked for $20 off a $250 OP (after putting in the bid for 250 which was super frustrating). I asked her if she would take a $10 discount because I bought it at a bit below market value and though I might pay it forward.
>mfw this bitch asked for an extra dollar off
so yes, anon, some people are just genuinely cheap and are willing to haggle for a few fucking dollars.
>>
>>8692471
Sorry anon but ETC for cheap is not rare at all. Just browsing Rakuten I found several secondhand pieces for around $20-30. Maybe just get better places to shop from?
>>
>>8692478
I'm potentially one of these people
>Seller has LM listing up for months with zero bids
>no price reductions
>get enough money to buy it but listing has ended
>PM her about buying it for price + shipping
'Oh anon, I was just about to relist it, just buy it on the new listing'
>New listing is $15 more
>Ask her about price change since she just agreed to the original price when I PM'd her
>'Oh, I was planning to relist it at this price and you agreed to purchase from the listing, soooo...'
>Say I am no longer interested
>she sends me a rant about time wasters

Not sure why but I just couldn't get around her adding on $15, maybe I am just a stingy bitch but it was so off
>>
I wanted to make copper flowers and see how well they sell on Etsy but I'm worried that I won't price it very well.
>>
>>8692492
You mean the non-print Almost-Axes-Femme-But-With-Less-Shape pieces? Sure, of course, but honestly, I don't think those are the ones people are looking at when they're talking ETC prices.
>>
>>8692512
The size should determine the price for crafts. I hate when people charge a lot for labor, it's one thing if you used a lot of nice material but totally another to charge for 5 hours of hotgluing like you're a surgeon or something.

Pic related is up for like $30 right now, there's another cute print dress that's a little over $50.
>>

people can charge for labor if the labor the good quality. like you said, charging for hot gluing something is bad, but for doing something like working rivets into leather (assuming its done well) it makes sense

I was tempted to message the seller and ask how much in pounds it would be to see if she would compromise and sell to a UK seller. Wtffffffff wow. Yep this is the thread for that
>>
I feel like this could be a bingo sheet or a quick way to drink yourself into a coma.

Things I've seen on other peoples sales post or gotten on my own recently that are just so why the fuck would you do this?:

>Do you take trades for this (max 98cm bust blouse)? Here's my album (full of nothing but plus size things starting at 110cm)!

>I don't get paid until the end of the month (three weeks from now) can you hold this $20 item for me until then?

>Your measurements are listed in centimeter, can you tell me what they are in inches?

>I wish I could buy this (Moi meme Moitie JSK) but $200 is too expensive for me because I'm a college student.

>Your shipping says USA only, does that include Canada too?

>I want to buy this but I'll have to ask my mother first because I don't have my own paypal.

>You don't sell to people who don't have their own paypal? My mom totally said it was okay, I can give you her Facebook or phone number and you can talk to her and she'll tell you! (Not making this shit up, it really happened)

This person is practically a treasure trove of wtf sales. They have never once paid for anything, they're just endlessly in a state of wasting everyone's time for 10+ minutes with questions without knowing how the reply function works and then finally going straight to "Do you want to trade?"

Laughing my ass off, I guess we should have seen it coming. They've been toeing a pretty cringey edgelord line for the last few years and now it just looks like they're grasping for anything vaguely popular on the internet now that it's not working.

The LimeCrime thing is so sad, too. LimeCrime is being buried under makeup brands with better pigmentation and lasting power that have more colors. That would have been a smart move, what? 6? More? years ago.
>>
>>8700589
It says "sold" in the description, so clearly she's already arranged a sale and has that listing up so she can get feedback from the buyer

Semi on topic, does anyone know what the deal is with Circus Doll? Are they just scalping Lucaille wigs at a 200% markup with 9 week shipping, or are they really an "authorized USA" seller as they've claimed? If they're really authorized I don't get why they would have to ship directly from Asia.
>>
>>8700914
>9 week shipping
Sounds like they're resellers. I honestly don't understand how the "You pay me now and you'll get your order in 2-3 weeks" resellers manage to get any customers because there's no way you can 100% say the item you're sending is good quality.
>>
>>8700914
They're resellers. Lucaille ships worldwide when you order from their official website (aka not Taobao), so they have no need for an "authorized USA" seller, especially if it's more expensive and more costly. It would ruin their image.
>>
>>8700888
>$300
wtf? you can get human hair wigs with monofilament parts for that much
no synthetic wig should cost that much, at that price you might as well switch to human hair as it's much more versatile

My friend has a 24" underbust (she's very very petite) and she special orders through Nordstrom. You have to get the lingerie specialist to order it and come back in for a fitting when it arrives, but its a good option if you've never found one small enough before since you don't have to pay until after trying it on. My friend is also a G cup so she's kind of double-fucked size wise.

Adding onto the craziness in sizes, I'm a 46/30/48 and 6'. I have maybe 4 pairs of proper pants that have been tailored and everything else is skirts. Its a really good thing I like classic with all its corset lacing and being able to use vintage victorian-revival blouses.

The brands listed are real wigs for people who want hair that doesn't look like a wig. Old ladies buy them. Those kind of wigs have a front cap made of some kind of rubber (on the inside, not just a skin top) and are very thickly wefted.

I stay away from any cosplayer who promotes them. They keep trying to pass themselves off as a legit company by giving people coupon codes to promo their site as "sponsors". Anon, I know you might be conflict-avoidant but you really need to ask either for a partial refund (very small is fine) or leave negative feedback for this.
If you message the seller about how you weren't happy but don't want a refund or to leave negative feedback, they will never learn. But people DO learn if they had consequences to their actions such as a refund or bad feedback.
The corset lacing thing is enough if you're too embarrassed to say about the shirring.
They will only do this again to another buyer if you don't take a stand.

my guess is she knew people were gonna ask, so she just threw that up there as an explanation for why she's selling something in good condition.

There's a lot of nabbing cheap stuff on there, I think, since Parcelforce are absolute w*nkers. It works out a lot cheaper to buy your brand locally, and not pay customs.

I wear lolita almost every day, so it's excellent for me to nab cheap brand to further pad out my wardrobe. I don't mind that things go quickly, but I am sick of people putting up fugly wigs, or Bodyline that's hella marked up. We know what the retail was when you bought it, and we know something similar will come up for half the price within two weeks. Stop bumping your overpriced shit.

Ugh someone in my comm was trying to sell similarly damaged shoes for $35. Bodyline wannabe scalpers need to be called out
>>
>>8707682
>95cm waist
>>
>>8709103
Trueee. Unfortunately as soon as she was called out for scalping, she became highly defensive.

She also ended up removing a lot of her sales posts/lowering the prices, which pretty clearly shows that she knows she f'd up.
>>
The images weren't loading but they're irrelevant anyway.
Did the meaning of NWOT change over the years or do people not realize the New Without Tags literally means NEW without tags?
>>
This was on my comm page.
We don't even do clothing sales.
>>
>>8709215
Like those people that say something like 'excellent condition still have tags!' then 'worn x times!', as if just having the tags upgrades the newness or something(?). Worn is worn, people...
>>
>>8709234
I'm really confused by "it can fit a cup of liquid"

Like, the whole set can fit one cup? Altogether?
>>
>>8709215
I thought NWOT stood for "never worn or tried on".
>>
>>8709288
It means "new without tags".
>>
>>8707752
I put "touhou cosplay lolita" into eBay and did get a hit for that dress, so it's possible she bought it and honestly believed it was lolita? Awkward, though.
>>
>>8709234
>>8709287
I'm really really hoping they mean the actual cups can each hold a full cup of liquid, because otherwise that's very tiny. Even most single-serve teapots hold more than one cup. I wonder if its actually a child's tea set, given the price?
>>
>>8708616
>come off anon so I can reply privately and save face
>>
>>8709234
My tea set can hold at least three cups, this is kinda weird. If it includes six cups I would think it would be able to hold 36-48 ounces.

Listed item on LM that I wanted to sell quickly.
Put in description "Only US shipping currently, no international. Sorry for the inconvenience!"
Buyer messages me and says "Please sell me this, I really, really want it, but I live in Europe!"
Tell buyer that international shipping is very expensive, but I'll check the cost of it and get back to her within a few days.
Get 5-6 more messages from buyer before I even get to go to the post office.
Impatient seller then just hits the buy it now button, because "I'm sorry, someone else bid on it and I really didn't want to miss this!"

Package item up, tell her the estimated shipping cost.
"Oh, that's really expensive, someone else sent me something from the US for much less than that."
Slightly annoyed, but seller pays and I ship the item, she says she's received it.

I'm glad it's over with now...but I was pretty annoyed the whole time....
>>
>>8709663
That's a Grade A obnoxious buyer. Glad you got it over with without any postal hassles though.
>>
>>8708616
>The two stains are from age

No, they're not. I don't know what those stains are, but you don't get two spots like that from "age". They looks like cigarette burns to me.
>>
I had a buyer purchase something from me once on LM while I was at work. Literally happened early in my shift. Usually I can get away a bit to check my phone or do whatever. But this day was pretty busy and I had to get a lot done. 30 minutes after she'd won the auction, I get a message. I figure it's just the obligatory, "Hi, I won your listing, here's my info thank you." but I couldn't check the actual message because poor internet and too busy. Another half hour passes and my phone goes off again. It's another message from lacemarket. Finally when i go on my break, I'm able to check. Damn girl was asking why I haven't invoiced her yet. I explained I was at work and now I'm on break. I send an invoice, pays instantly. An hour passes another message or two. I check them on my lunch. She wants to know what her tracking is. She messages me again later in the day and wondering if I've shipped it. I couldn't even get to the post office that day because I worked till 5. Do these people not know what jobs are? jfc.
>>
>>8708616
>replicas were never loved by the majority of the community, the times have not "changed"
>three years is a really short life span for a lolita item
>when items age it's normally fading, not giant mold stains

What a freak and she has a terrible attitude too. She reminds me of that gross person who did a shitty Mana costume for Halloween's replies to secrets made about her last week
>>
>>8689176
Holy shit, according to this chart I'm an XS when I'm usually an M. Where did you get this from, anon? It's really fucking scary.
>>
>>8709719
Fuck that noise. Even franchises can take more than a day to ship.
>>
>>8708099
Personally I'd mail her and say no, it's against LM's ToS, and see if she surrenders. If she pushes for it or tries to ask you to pay the PP fees after that then contact the mods.
Sometimes people are just cheeky if you seem causal enough for it not be a problem.

It's easy to break costumes down when you don't know shit about making them. Armour's just padding painted silver, right? And anyone can make a Miku outfit, it's just a long cardi and a shirt and skirt! See, easy!
That's why we have the bad cosplay threads.
And no, I agree that the parent shouldn't be the one going round asking. It's really weird to me too, especially when her daughter is old enough for a fb of her own. If she wants her parents to ask in case people are hesitant to sell to a child that's fair enough, but they should make that more obvious. It sounds pretty creepy like this. I also get the impression that, if some poor sucker DID make the costume, the stuff they'd get in return would be wrinkled, unwashed, and super shitty quality.
>>
>>8709719
Could be worse, she could have harassed you all day and then taken ages to pay.
>>
>>8703817
I am SO GLAD other people noticed this like wtf. Why would you use such an unattractive picture when you're trying to sell something?

>why would you make such an unattractive picture public anyway desu
>>
>http://www.lacemarket.us/innocent-maiden-beige-blouse/
>"Innocent Maiden"
I'd say it's a mistake but it's on two of her listings And then she even abbreviates it IW in her post...?
When I see shit like this I wonder if the seller even owns the item they're listing, if they can't even get the brand name right.

>>8710200
Don't even try to blame this on us, that's not an American English thing. In fact the only time I've seen that usage even jokingly used is with stereotypical poor British English.

Do different states in the us have different shipping rates i live in europe and have paid $20 shipping for a dress then other times been quoted $60 and thats for normal weight dresses not like velvet or anything and without tracking.
>>
>>8711231
States have different prices depending on distance from destination. Shipping to CA from where i live is about 7 or 8 minimum, while Chicago or PA are about 5.95. And FedEx/ other shipping companies are about 2 or 3 times what USPS costs in my experience
>>
>>8711231
I'm going to be honest, it often feels like USPS charges whatever the hell they feel like at the moment for international shipping.

So I tried to sell a dress because my parents basically abandoned my brother and I, and I needed money for food... This girl commented on a sales post two months ago asking if the dress would fit a size 12. I gave her a clear and concise explanation of vanity sizing and how to measure herself, including what to do if she didn't have a measuring tape. She then messaged me a month later asking if the dress was still available and I asked if she'd measured herself yet. Over two days she continued asking if it would fit a size 12 after I told her I wear anything between a size 6 and 14 depending on the store/garment, then sent pictures of herself so I coukd try and guage the fit. Even though I was desperate for cash I accepted her being unable to pay until the end of the month. Three weeks later she was ignoring my messages, then after a week told me her debit card had been stolen and her account cleared out. As a victim of theft/fraud myself I felt awful for her, and still feel awful not knowing whether or not I'd prefer if this was the truth. I wouldn't wish that on anyonex

Sorry for the sloppy caps but this is going on in the Fairy Kei and Lolita Sales group on FB right now and it's mildly infuriating how dumb this girl is. She also posted two more comments just now:
>I bought this for $250 tho.. I'm not lowering it anymore. I have college to pay for. Sorry I ain't rich like you all.
>If I can't sell this, I'm just gonna throw it away. Plain and simple.
>>
>>8711231
In a flat rate box, they wanted to charge me $60.
Put it in a regular box, comes out to like $35.
So confused.
It's more affordable without tracking, but most people want tracking.
>>
>>8712117
"If I can't sell this, I'll throw it away!"
And get no money for it? Okay...imo $50-60 is better than zero, lol.
>>
>>8712232
It looks like one of the mods has had enough of her shit and basically told her to lower the price or shut up about nobody buying her overpriced replica.
Somebody also told her that it won't sell for $150 and her response was like "Oh but maybe somebody will see I need to get the money for college and buy it at that price". Bitch that's not going to happen.
>>
>>8712088
Holy crap anon I hope you're in a better situation now, that's horrible.

Thanks... Parents are back in the country (for now) but you can bet I was shocked to come home and realise that they were both absent (and missed my little brother's birthday). Usually just one is out of the country and the other is at church every damn day and won't replace milk on the fridge for three weeks. I can't even drink milk but I'll make sure it is there for my brother. Blew my budget for the next week on new glasses but need them

But seriously, why do so many girls not seems to understand that buying clothes requires you to know how big you actually are and that sizing alone means nothing? I felt bad that she had to buy or borrow a measuring tape so suggested the string + ruler method twice and she wouldn't do that either
>>
>>8713181
Don't feel bad- if you want to buy clothes online you need to know your damn measurements!! She's the one at fault here.

Sounds like things are pretty rough for you, hope they get better.

>>
>>8712229
In a regular box shipping is determined by weight. Flat rate is just what it says, no matter what you put in there the cost is the same. Never use flat rate for light items, but usually a good deal for heavy things. A lot of people quote flat-rate because it's the guaranteed max the buyer will have to pay ("$60 shipping, will refund difference if less".)
>>
>>8712117
This is why print replica sales should be blanket banned, I'd always worry that some poor newbie would fall for shit like this in a less moderated sales group. To be honest, them lying should constitute a ban.
>>

What is with people being so ridiculous when it comes to other people's pricing lately? I remember when people were only called out in blatant and extreme cases of overcharging, like if someone were to ask for $700 on a piece that doesn't even sell for retail. These days you get called a scalper or end up in a WTF thread for asking for what an item is worth just because the person complaining is either a complete newfag or butthurt about having to pay an item's typical going rate, even when you're only talking $200 items. I've seen people call scalper on people for their auctions ending up crazy high after massive bidding wars.
