The finish on the limbs looks really nice! I'd recommend that she wear shapewear underneath the leotard/tights to smooth over the lumps at the leg holes, but otherwise the greens look nicely matched (maybe barring the fingers, but they might look better as part of the completed cosplay if they match her wig).

It would be really lazy for one thing. And for most, lapis and rose (and old pearl design) aside, you really don't need to do anything because their outfits don't appear specifically feminine or masculine. It's just the body shapes that make it seem like they're feminine. Just go off of canon unless you're too insecure, in which case who the fuck cares you're already dressing up as a cartoon

IMO the colors are hard to find, so people just get lazy and pick what's easy (tomato red, bright blue). I can count on one hand the number of cosplayers who've done the right colors for Sapphire and there are MAYBE two who've done Ruby's well.

i think arms that are attached with fishing line like pic related are more convincing than robotic arm movements would be- robotic movements would be nowhere near as fluid as a real human arm would be and moving on their own while your own arms aren't moving would be kind of weird

if this was some random person's last minute costume id understand a little more, but her post got pretty popular on tumblr so i was hoping at least one person gave her some pointers on body paint, clothes, etc. you could easily make jasper's outfit out of leggings, tank top, and some scrap fabric if you wanted to go the easy route. i guess i was getting my hopes up- it's just a real shame since she has the perfect body for it.

There's a big difference in the kind of motions in a tail vs. arms. They'd literally need to be puppeted by a second person and carefully choreographed with the person wearing the costume. Even in the show the spare sets of arms often don't really do much.

I was wondering if anyone has done/started a Laser Light Cannon yet? Does anyone think it would be a neato prop to have/see a Steven cosplayer with?

I am 99% sure her gem is just clipping through her visor. With gems being made of projected light, their clothing doesn't actually need to be tangible and her visor regenerated with her so like Garnet's visor it's technically a part of her body.

I really don't think that it's on top of her visor, it's just that on her forehead the visor is flush against her skin. Her skin covers the facets on her gem and the curved bit sticks out beyond the visor.

On that note; which colour tint would be best for the visor? I think yellow and lime green look silly considering its white in the show. I'm going to try transparent worbla to see how it goes. But I've also come across a local store that does thin acrylic in an opal colour that allows some transparency.

Finished just in time for Halloween!! Minor malfunctions aside, i'm happy with how it came out.I'll need to do some tweaking for a con and some paint and patch jobs after walking around in the heat but I'm really happy with this run.

Because, Peridots as a gemstone are called by nickname "Evening Emeralds" Because in dim light they appear a deep green, but when in direct daylight they appear to be a soft yellow.

Both the character Peridot and clearly Hanari are simply reflecting this nature, the best example is Peridots escape in the episode "Friend Ship" because despite appearing her usual green, when she is making her escape into the sky where there is plenty of bright sunlight, she appears yellow.
