The response to my last post here was so predictable lame I left.

FWIW I had thought there were at least one or two things in the Red Cross book officially disavowed so it doesn't really seem like a good source. Even keeping it in discussion there is the weasel word "appears" that means it isn't a final authority.

I think you're the soulshitter for pushing the "EVA00 has Rei I inside it" theory.

Rei threads, above all, should be able to handle discussion without people going ballistic about it - and I've seen this problem before, yes, I've been here. The problem is solely and squarely on the person who can't handle cognitive dissonance and starts making up terms like "soulshitter".

I've seen a lot of these discussions, before it was the people who insisted that EVA00 contained "Naoko Akagi", Ritsuko's mother. Today it's the people that insist that Rei I is inside EVA00. Therefore the only problem is the guy, who may not even be a Reifag proper, that keeps on insisting that Rei I is inside EVA00 and then going nuts when other explanations are laid forth.

You probably won't believe this but the vast majority of people, myself included, don't care about "fandoms" and accept fictional characters for what they are. One reason I don't do a Misato thread is because I can't be bothered to check every day to make sure it stays bumped.

It is only the Rei Cult here that is concerned about Eva fandoms. And so we get invented conspiracy theories to cope with the Rebuilds. It's not enough to say the stories are terrible like most normal people do. It must be a plot to assassinate the popularity of Rei!

Well I believe that we should be able to have discussion. This is fanwank as usual, and misses the point. Having a mental link or not make Rei Q Rei. This is fiction and they can make up any reason they want, even if it doesn't make sense. Rebuild 2's ending is not required at all here.

Like what? Any significance you can conjure up would be theories this thread and most Rei fans have considered (and ironically, been proven right about concerning 3.33) and dismissed as being worthless despite the fact that they add up. Since 2.0 we've discussed that the SDAT represents hope, something easily and thematically put together in 2.0 and then quite bluntly shoved in your face with 3.33 by cutting to the SDAT every time they uttered the word "hope". So you see Qshitter, the problem here isn't that we do not understand the enormous amount of symbolism thrown at us. In fact, we understand it better than you ever will because your goal isn't to understand it in the first place, it is only to manipulate it in support of your anti-Rei agenda.

So why is this insignificant? Because regardless of whether or not Rei Q has a mental link with Shinji, or she picks up the SDAT, Rei Q would still be a character that has no development coming from Rei, while at the same time being represented as a caricature of Rei in a setting that pleases people who hate Rei, the Asuka fans and people like you.

We understand Rebuild from a much broader perspective than you do.

Only because they all prove you wrong anon. The videos shown precisely what we say, a sound calling out for Shinji that gets louder as the wall breaks open. It shows you that even when it is very certain that it is indeed a loudspeaker, Misato, Ritsuko, everyone ignores Rei. Have you not considered that they do not care about some non-Rei clone ? They know better than to give it any thought, because it isn't Rei. The same goes for the SDAT, as whether or not Rei Q picks it up, it shows no link for Rei Q with Rei.

The truth is, that if Anno came out and claimed Rei Q was Rei all along, and wrote it clear as day for the next movie, nothing would actually change here. 3.33 has completely legitimized Rebuild as a work that can actually treat characters as characters. It is now a work more comparable with angry fanfiction than an actual genuine story, placating only bitter Asuka fans, Kaworu fans, and even if they don't realize it yet, Misato fans. These are things that have been understood about Khara itself since before Rebuild was made, and for Rebuild after 2.0 was made. 3.33 was simply the part which made it irreversible.

Rei Q is not Rei for more than just one reason:

- Rei Q does not continue Rei (from 2.0)'s character.
- Rei Q does not represent Rei from the original series and does not continue the character.
- Rei Q has destroyed the continuation of Rei from 2.0 's character, blocked it completely and ruined it in comparison with the original.
- Rei Q mocks the character of Rei herself.

all this in a toxic mix which glorifies characters like Asuka, Misato and Kaworu, in a story which directly punishes the main character for associating with Rei. 3.0 + 1.0 will never change these facts. It is history.

There is an inherent bias in the articles you've seen there, and particularly ones written on Evageeks. It is incapable of discussing theories versus each other, and claims that e.g the "Rei I theory" is the most prevalent, despite the fact that it's only the most prevalent on a single thread on evageeks.

It's a problem that plagues much of the fanbase.

I think Rei's soul was split in half after she died as Rei 1 and put into unit 00.
Because Shinji sees her when he gets in the unit and Rei 2 acts a lot different from Rei 1.
Then Rei 3 gets her whole soul back and that's why she's able to do angel stuff when Rei 2 couldn't.

It's not true. There was never any soul revealed to be inside EVA00, and for instance, the Red Cross Book that comes alongside EoE mentions that Rei I, II and III had the same soul. The "soul split" theory that is currently a popular theory is still just that - a theory.

Rei acts differently because she's lost some memories, and she's also suffering emotionally. She's traumatized by the whole thing and this is her way of coping, by regressing into an expressionless state. She doesn't think she needs comfort or friends.

As for what is inside EVA00, I'm leaning toward the "no soul" theory because of Rei's role in the creation of the dummy plug program, and the fact that Rei has no mother and is a Seed of Life herself.

I'm no veteran buyfag but as far as I'm aware Mandarake is all second hand. I've bought some stuff there myself and would recommend it. The only thing I'd note is that if you do buy stuff there you're better off buying a few things at once for shipping's sake.

Really, your issue would be actually finding decent Rei figures because last time I checked thanks to Rebuild virtually none exist on the market.

If you need to do any research MyFigureCollection is a decent archival of japanese figurines, and you might be able to find something that strikes your fancy.
