I've said countless times that I have nothing against Rei. It's her idiot fanbois that can't seem to handle themselves that irk me.

Well, Kaworu was Asuka's substitute piloting EVA-02 in anime, so there's a low connection there.
And in the manga they did meet.

Not to say in all spin-offs of AU, they meet too, although with very poor interaction.

That's why I called it "exotic", yet pretty cute, yes. In any case, I find it fairly better than pairing Asuka with such a feeble and unmanly boy as Shinji, that's for sure. Kaworu is pretty elegant compared to Shinji.

Her having a bit of a softer side, for one. Like I said, I feel that the combination of Sohryu and Shikinami make a complete, 3 dimensional character. She is still catty and arrogant like she was in NGE, but they balanced that out a little by showing her doing something nice for others.
