I think the simple yet charming story mix well with the lighthearted comedy and carefree tone of the show that slowly builds for an emotive ending. The characters undergo subtle changes through the course of the story (specially in S2) that not necessary change their personality but do improve their lives and group dynamic. In my opinion is a very nice, drama free show to watch at the end of the day

As for Yui she is the MC so you are going to see her a often. She is a sweet, innocent kind of ditsy girl. I admit just kind of liked her at first but I end up loving her over many things that I cant list in this post because I would spoil the story for you. But I can say that I like how she mix with the rest of the cast, often you see MCs stealing the spotlight from other characters but Yui as no issues moving aside and let others shine so it never feels like the story is forcing you to like her and that goes very well with Yui's friendly nature.

Basically what >>2650562 and >>2650590 say. If you don't like CGDCT shows, probably you won't like it... At first, because the characters are portrayed in such a special way that it's very easy to get fond of them. They may seem simple stereotypes at first, but they're not. Also, their interactions feel real and natural.
As for Yui, I think she's the perfect MC for this type of show. Airhead, funny, innocent, but also changes a little and grows as a person thanks to her mates (and she's not the only one). In a show that is supposed to amuse you and relax you (as the iyashikei that it is), she works really well.
In conclusion, indeed, it's a show worth watching at least once, and not only for Yui.

I just finished the graduation episode and it has to be one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. I loved it when they all sang to Azunyan (made me cry a bit desu) and every time Yui would sing it felt like she was hugging me with her voice; by far my favorite song. I never thought I would love a show this much, it kills me to see it end but at least I still have the extras.

I know that feel. It's such a beautiful journey and they did a fantastic job with everything leading up to that episode. And then when you get to that episode it all hits you at once. It's so sad, yet so happy, and just goes to show how much the characters grow on you. I hope I'll have time soon to continue my rewatch of the show so I can experience it all again!

That is my exact feelings towards that episode and song. That episode alone made me absolutely love this show. That song just hit me so hard I shed some tears of joy. I definitely am going to rematch this show many times.

Same here I never expected to love a show this much, specially not this show but I do and while is sad that it ended but it was a wonderful experience besides I can still revive some of the magic by rewatching which is something I do from time to time. And you can still have the movie for more k-on and of course more cute little Yui.
