ethereum is useless because smart contracts cost too much money to interact with for complex dapps.
I noticed this recently.
What is the solution? Any other coin/project that solves this?
Will metropolis help?

I have no clue. I just started dapp development and I realized that no matter what I try and design, it will be better suited as a plain old web app since it won't cost money then. The only reason I can think of to run something on the ethereum blockchain is if you're trying to scam people into thinking they can make money with your smart contracts (ICOs)

Komodo Project (KMD) is the next level Ethereum/Zcash, offering atomic swaps across chain, decentralized ICOs, Lightning Network integration, Agama multiwallet, BarterDEX decentralized exchange, simple contracts > smart contracts... everything together, most of the framework is there. They are debugging GUI before full public release. They just had a very informative AMA on reddit you should probably check out.
Lisk solves that.

This is kind obvious, I'm not surprised people don't get it. Blockchain works for a financial system like bitcoin because as long as bitcoin thrives, miners are happy and keep it going and there are lots of things that balance it like halving, rewards, fees, etc. Doing an operation on top of that across several redundant computers will always be more expensive than the same operation on only a few computers, so it's not surprising. I already knew this too despite just being trading. Just don't tell anyone this, I still want the massive gains from more new people coming in

Ok Vitalik.
If they solve the scaling problem, the gas prices will become much lower as there will be enough throughput for everyone.
