Can someone honestly explain to me why I'm not allowed to participate in ICO's as a United States Citizen if everyone somehow thinks cryptocurrency is a scam? Multiple investment firms, big bank chains, media personalities and even common people on social media are telling me over and over it's a scam.

If it's such a scam why can't I fucking lose all my money on it unless I personally have the government's permission to do so?

Because the government feels the need to protect people from Darwin's Law.

Just like them attempting to outlaw all sugary drinks over a certain size.

We're babies that can't take care of ourselves.

What is the story with this? I was interested in Kyber, but heard US citizens need not apply. Is that even true?

Is it the US govt forcing this or are foreigners just getting back at US now that they have leverage?

Redpill goes deeper than that...

You think that you know what is safe and what is dangerous, because if the government wastes it time regulating soda portions and rubber bouncy balls, surely they would regulate the things that are really dangerous...

This is the illusion they intend to convey; a sense of safety and reassurance that Big Brother is watching. Yet there are probably a million things in the modern world that are killing us slowly that the government either doesn't know about, or refuses to acknowledge..

That would make sense if it wasn't perfectly fine if I gamble away all my money in casinos, or take out multiple credit cards, invest heavily into stocks I know nothing about, or get fucked over by huge amounts of debt from things I can't control?

Unless you are one of the privileged few who are "accredited investors" it's illegal for you to participate in ICOs. The reasoning behind this is basically "The government wants to protect you from scams."

It's too much trouble for them to deal with the SEC's bullshit so they just ban the US outright.

Just lie and say you're not a citizen

It's only there to avoid legal trouble on both ends. I doubt the government is gonna blackbag your ass because you threw 50 bucks in faggotcoin or whatever.
