you don't hodl on an exchange newfriend. get a paper wallet for your btc and use myetherwallet for ethereum or erc20 tokens.

and there are no altcoins on coinbase so use bittrex

I've more than doubled my initial investment in less than 2 years trading stocks. Crypto has made many people millionaires but it's getting a little late to the party IMO and the risk to reward is terrifying right now. ESPECIALLY with altcoins. with that said Coinbase looked pretty solid when I thought about buying crypto, but I decided not to when Bitcoin lost 10%. thought about it this week again and now Bitcoin just lost another 600 fucking dollars.

Use something like MyEtherWallet for holding. My favorite site for alts is Bittrex, but sometimes I'll use Etherdelta for coins that aren't listed there.

Coinbase gets ragged on because it's just got the 3 coins, has fees and just has a set price. It's a decent place for traders to buy BTC/ETH to transfer onto something like Bittrex.

I use Coinbase for buying Bitcoin and Bittrex for buying alts.
