A fork for btc would obliterate the economy of it, so he wouldn't even have to just buy btc at face value. He could work with pushing a fork and buy when it crashed. Alternatively those with malicious intent could create a "hack" that would resemble the scenario of mgtox and destroy Coinbase/other exchanges. There are so many ways to shit on bitcoin if you're in these positions of power, it's not even funny. Look into where the founders of mgtox went too (kraken and bittrex) and you will see how easy it can be to poop on the price.
