ETC will be worth zero in a year or two. That all it'll take for the dream of smart contracts to hit reality, and people will learn there's no way to solve the oracle problem and use it for anything which isn't inside a virtual sandbox.
Yeah but ETH will be at 2k
chainlink IS the oracle dumbfuck
This. No one has ever given an explanation. Eth can 1. Transfer coins and 2. Transfer coins based on conditions 3. Create new tokens that can also do 1. and 2.
This is no more advanced than writing some open source code for the conditions (provably fair as its open source that anyone can read) and using bitcoin as the blockchain for the coin transfers.
Eth literally adds nothing of value. Id love to be proven wrong and given some real decentralised use case. Unfortunately it doesnt exist.

100% correct but big money got in and they're pushing the inevitable end of the project forward.

Actually, it IS different than writing open source code since you can PROVE that the code running is the code promised.
Otherwise I'll "open source" my own BTC casino claiming user edge of 0.01% since I'm "such a nice guy with all this money I don't want" and then just make it have a 5% house edge before I actually compile the binary.

It could be useful for prediction markets, but it's nothing you can't make without ETH.

Dapps like auger and gnosis are the most promising way to solve the oracle problem. Next!
