What's the best UK bank?

Having good online banking and apps is desirable

I currently use a single Barclays personal account for my personal and self employed use but thinking I should get a separate account for biz to make calculating taxes easier

Meh, I've been with Barclays for like 25 years. They aren't considered the best but I've been with them so long I can't bring myself to change banks.

Santander have good deals and options on other accounts usually. Some of the other banks might have shot interest but pay you a fiver if a grand moves through your account. You could start one of those with a partner as a joint account and get the money for free moving it through that. I think Barclays have something called blue options where for a few you get things like gadget insurance but you can claim a fiver back. Not really looked into it.

Depends of your usage.
Do you have a lot of liquidity? Do you move a lot? Nationaly, internationaly, do you have ATM of said bank near your principal residency? Do you have a partner that needs a card too? Do you want to take a loan some day?

Lots of things to take into consideration.

Personaly I have an HSBC Visa Premier, I move a lot internationaly so it's the best for my situation, but for a "random dude with a basic life", whatever goes.

I have a Santander for normal use and Barclays for biz. Barclays is so much better. SEPA £5 vs £15 too.
>>
Natwest if you want you card blocked for paying for anything other that what you usually buy

like, they block my card every few weeks and I have to call to unblock them

Ironically enough, the one time my card was actually skimmed they didn't block it.

I'm solely going to be using it to receive a few thousand in monthly AdWords payments and make 5-10 small online card payments a month. That's about it, pretty basic. No loans etc

I do travel a bit but not anything that counts as business. I have a throwaway Fidor account I use for spending abroad
