You'll need for capital to trade futures for sure, but you won't be caught up in any management fees or anything like that. I wouldn't trade futures as a total noob though. You WILL blow your account up not knowing what you're doing since futures almost always involve high amounts of leverage.

BTW, dump those gold ETF's at first sign of the indices coming back into a bull trend. It should come back into the 1230's range at that point. In addition, watch the next fed rate hike decision. Gold does very poorly in a high interest environment.
