Can you make profit from a flash crash by placing a limit buy stop order at 1% of the actual value of bitcoin for instance, or does it happens too fast?

If the exchange doesn't have any circuit breakers it works.
No set make your pick, set your order and wait until 2412. Might as well play the lottery anon.
Oh and smart contracts like Etherdelta work differently, it won't work there
probably not at 1%, because of the buy orders before you, but people have made dumb automated sells due to low sell orders in a flash crash. I'm not sure, but I think your proposition is too extreme.

Time isn't that much of a factor. When the flash crash happened in the ETH case the exchange automatically called peoples' margin accounts so there was a cascading of orders and if your 1% or whatever order was triggered then it will be triggered. Time doesn't really factor into it, it really depends on the order book at the time of the crash and like I said, in that particular case the cascading effect.
