why do you NEED them though? what are you really after? why not just work on your business and nurture any good social opportunities that arise naturally in the course of that? it could depend on the business too I guess.

Going to my old college yielded nothing but wantrepreneur business majors that are too focused on school and their shitty jobs to be real business people. That's fine, but I need people that are bona fide 100% entrepreneur.

I "need" these people because it is the natural tendency for humans to climb to the top of their social group.

When I was around /tv/ I made a /tv/-centered blog about movies.

When I was around /biz/ I started trading shitcoins and started a /biz/-centered Snapchat.

When I was around vegans I tried to start a vegan non-profit org.

When I was around my friends, I would copy them but try to do what they did 10 times better.

It's not that I'm actively trying to "rise to the top of the social ladder", all of this stuff I THOUGHT I was just doing for myself and myself only.

But it turns out the social influence is huge in affecting what I do.
