Hey guys, I have a lot of learning to do. I don't own any coins, nor do I understand the majority of jargon which is used on this board. I am a smart kid, with lots of free time on his hands. What is the most efficient way to start wrapping my head around this beast? I feel like a complete pleb for not having gotten involved a lot sooner. Assuming I have 0 knowledge of crypto markets whatsoever, where would be the best place(s) to start learning from scratch?
One thing I seem to grasp is not to be carried away with hype over certain coins and trying to make money fast, rather trying to make a few solid, wise investments with what little capital I have. There is a girl at my uni who is a bitcoin broker, should I buy through her?
Sorry for what is probably an all-too-common post around here. If anybody can point me in the direction of some good places to start learning, it would be much appreciated.

Invest $50 - the cost of a video game. Think of it like a video game and play the game. You might lose it all, but playing small time you'll lack the fear that people who start out with large investments have. Once that small investment has put you through the ringer, dump in more cash.
