If BTC goes up, your altcoins typically rise with it. It depends on the exact circumstance though.
But it's usually best to stay in alts.

You usually lose btc in alts when btc moons because of panic selling to get back into btc. It evens back out when btc calms down though.

Dont chase the money and the hype. That's how you lose.

alt prices are directly related to btc price, as the btc/altcoin is what matters.
So if bitcoin rises 10 percent your alts will do aswell if the btc/altcoin rate stays the same.
Most of the time alts tank when bitcoin rises, so the drop in btc/altcoin relation cancels out the higher btc value.
