My mother has heard about my crypto gains and is wanting to send me a large amount of money to try to see what I can do with it. I told her its a stupid idea and past performance does not dictate future performance. She says she understands that it can go to 0, but if it does I figure Ill just bail her out. How stupid is this idea? If you received $25,000 to invest, what would you put it on?
>>
>>3238000
Just put 70% in btc and 20% in eth and hold for 5 years, agree with her beforehand that you'll do this.
>>
just play safe.
leave 30-50% in BTC, invest in good projects at the right time, and you will be fine
>>
>>3238000
BTC.Its the only safe option
>>
75 % btc, 20 % ETC and try to make mad gains with the last 5 %.
>>
>>3238000
Bet it all on good moon missions anon, send gains to BTC and ETH
>>
>>3238000
All in on ether and leave it alone. Don't buy Bitcoin, it's got HIV
>>
>>3238028
This
>>
>>3238011
>>3238014
>>3238020
Hmm. I think BTC is a good option, - potentially 50%. I made a ridiculous amount on BCH (and still holding) but Im wondering whether we still have an upside.
My possibly retarded idea is going hard on an upcoming ICO. If it busts Ill just pay her out, if it moons, post addresses because I sure as fuck will be giving back to /biz/
>>
>>3238000
don't do it. she can do it herself. you gain nothing from it, she literally just wants you to get her rich and nothing else. my mom and all my friends wanted to give me money so that i could make them money after hearing about my crypto gains as well. not only do i think that isn't legal, it's a great way to lose friendships
>>
>>3238000
30% in to gold and silver
25% in to butcoin
20% in to etherium
10% in to litecoin
15% in to various A+ rated coins and play with them and keep 50% of the profits as commission.
>>
Developing markets and shorting the DOW are the only correct answer
>>
>>3238000
Same situation here anon. My brother wired me $3,000 and he told me to buy $300 worth of the top 10 coins.... pathetic. I told him he's just throwing his money away, but he is too retarded.
>>
Buy the porn ICO
>>
>>3238000
The gold and silver is your mums security.
The btc, ltc and eth are lower risk gains
The 15% are your high risk gains that you will do most of your work on and worth the commission to give you insensitive to work hard.

Well balanced and diversified.
>>
>>3238057
I remember hearing that giving financial advice / transacting on behalf of family members especially is one of the stupidest things to do.

>>3238124
I wonder who told you that. I bet that person would prefer you sent your family to a financial advisor, perhaps a broker. Hmm.
>>
>>3238145
Would you rather they are buttmad at some broker for losing all their money, or at you?
In my opinion it is just asking for trouble to do loans/investment/whatever with family/friends. But on the other hand, some people have more of a mentality of helping each other out with money problems etc...
>>
take it, 100x it, tell her it didn't work out and give back 5k
>>
>>3238171
Its his mother. Yes, the pressure is very real but would you trust your money with with an investment officer? Why would you tell a loved one to do what you would not do. Second, if OP is taken for his post, then it was his mothers idea, which places the guilt on her.
>>
>>3238106
>insensitive to work hard
>brainlet
>>
>>3238194
do this, but be nice to mother, give her 40 or 50k
>>
>>3238221
I was thinking... 50% DIM and 50% KIN.
They seem like the best ICOs upcoming
>>
>>3238000
Buy BTC go to Bittrex and spread
>50% in ADX
>40% in OMG

Hodl the rest in BTC.
>>
>>3238000
Honestly?
Would do the same..
Even tho my mother is a cunt i would trie my best to atleast doubble her money
If you have enough money to soak the losses than do it, but don't tell her you did just that you feel uncomfortable or something like this
>>
>>3238000
Just start investing small amounts and take out profits, no need to go all in from the get go.
>>
All in on bitbean
>>
Whatever you do with the rest, buy 25,000 doge and then if you lose it all just show her the doge wallet

She'll never know it's worthless
>>
>>3238000
Wait for good times to buy. Don't just invest immediately because you've now got the money. People always say "hurr we're never going back to x again", but eventually we have crashes. BTC, ETH, LTC and XMR have all had decent growth recently, I'd be pretty reluctant to throw money at any atm.
>>
>>3238488
this. parents are clueless

>>3239023

>Self this
>>
>>3238194
Jew detected
>>
Btc/eth/xmr/FCT

Split your investment between these 4 coins, and realize that one day the crypto market with implode and you'll need to know when to get out before then
>>
BTC for low risk. Shitcoins for high risk high reward.
>>
>>3238049
this also if it shits the bed it will be your fault but if it succeeds you arent the genius they are

Don't think of this from a money standpoint, think of it from a family standpoint.
If you lose all that money, do you really think she's just going to be like 'oh well' and not resent you, or ask for some back?
Involving family and money is a very bad idea. It can destroy families. The best thing to do with crypto gains? Shut the fuck up and don't tell anyone. People will try to give you money to invest and when it goes wrong, they'll blame you. Or what about people asking to lend money from you?
I've not even told my wife that I trade in crypto, because its my own money I'm not afraid to lose, as it should be with anyone who trades in crypto.
Entire life savings is NOT something you fuck with on crypto, especially when it isn't even yours to begin with.
You should listen to the song 'ten crack commandments' by Biggie Smalls. Although its about selling crack, apply what he says to crypto and learn.
Speaking as someone who has fallen out with family from lending them money and them fucking around with paying me, DO NOT mix family and business.
>>
>>3238000
all in bitbean(thank me later)
>>
>>3239132
>>3238000
This. Don't do it OP it's not worth it. If she's the type who really is ok with whatever outcome she wont mind if you refuse. If she does mind then that's telling you how she'll react if things goes bad.
>>
>>3239132
This is quality advice, its much appreciated.
My current thinking is that I can just use the money as seed money and I am 100% prepared to cashout the money if it goes south.
Reading the lyrics to 10 crack commandments, pretty spot on
>>
>>3238000
Take it all for yourself and tell her that the market crashed in 2 years. Why does she even have so much money? Does she own her house? Does she take vacations? If this is for retirement then there are better retirement funds than crypto.

>boomer having 25k in the bank
WOW totally unheard of
>>
>>3239491
>in the bank
Thats the part that doesnt make sense for any responsible adult. 5k in your bank 20k in mutual funds and making max contributions to an IRA and claiming it on your taxes.
Unless you are making payments on property then you should make small payments to crypto and build your portfolio slowly.
>>
Vertcoin (VTC) is under a dollar again now, I can't see it staying like that for long. Atomic swap ready and they're re-releasing stealth addresses shortly. Plus it's asic resistant. There was a rise last week, I bought most of mine at half the price but I'm still buying more now. I'd put 50% in BTC, 40% in ETH and 10% in VTC.
>>
>>3238046
No ETH will be the one reaching +50%.

I almost didnt post this since I cant give you my source, but whatever might as well try
>>
>>3238063
Which one is that?
>>
>>3238000
Wait until the november FUD ended.
Don't invest in BTC before that, even the BTC is a 5500 in november at least it will be rock solid.
>>
if you really wanna be on the safe side, invest in iconomi's index fund (blx) or wait for some other DAAs to open up on the iconomi platform (should be in september) and invest in those. seriously, index founds are the best way to invest in any market if you dont want to constantly obses over your pfolio

all in on kyber. say that you doubled her money and give give her $50k. keep the $2.450.000.

exercise risk management, this isn't your money, you will be EXTREMELY emotional about it
take positions no larger than 1000$, or even 500$ depending on your mentality
You don't need to use all the money at once. You can save to buy dips.
Do not be afraid to cut losses, but at the same time don't panic sell. It's difficult to balance, you need to learn when a major support has broken so you can cut your loss and buy in lower.
>>
>>3239647
as far as i know we can only invest 2-3 eth on kyber each.
>>
>>3239903
FUCK i didn't know that. i only registered once. FUCK MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>3239924
The exact amount is not safe yet, however it can't be much more if all or most people whitelisted actually pass the KYC and end up buying all they are allowed to. Make sure you don't miss the registration starting 31. https://crystal.kyber.network/
>>
>>3239561
If you're 25 years old, maybe. It's completely reasonable to have 25k in the bank as an older adult, should you have any healthcare emergency or your kids get into trouble. Of course you should also have 6 to 7 figures in actual assets and investments.
>>
my mum has figures in the bank right now, i know becuase im a joint holder.
i took 30k to gamble on crypto
>>
>>3240672

70% BTC, 20% ICO and dump once it hit exchanges, 5% NEO, 5% gambling on ultra low caps

This is a big responsibility anon be careful--NO SHITCOINS

Understand the market and by that I mean understand the growth of bitcoin and how altcoins took over half of its market

tldr
>blockchain tech has the capacity to decentralize the economy i.e. replace the banks, this is as big as anything Steve Jobs ever created. BITCOIN mooned like crazy because it was a groundbreaking product.

The banking cartel (who dont want to be replaced) infiltrated the devs and cancelled BTC's scaling solution which ws increasing blocksize. They literally corrupted the design of BTC. And now a temporary 1MB cap to fight DDOS attacks is becoming permanent. This is why the altcoins took marketshare from BTC, sending BTC is inefficient now.

There is huge risk of BTC crash but that doesn't mean it will happen. Sometimes an inferior product can do well with the right hype and salesmanship. But be ready for collapse and if it does, be ready for a firesale.

If you get in now, be ready for an event that can't time ahead. I would get XMR and LTC, and some ETH, and I wouldn't put all 25k in. I would be CONSERVATIVE.

If BTC tanks, sell your ETH first and sell it fast. When it hits the bottom, BUY BCC. Buy tons and tons of it. Sell all LTC because it's only growing now because the King is unfeasible per-transaction, and it's centralizing and imposing a bank fee. The bankers did win this battle you'll see that soon enough.

BCC will rise from the ashes, because it's Bitcoin. The market will choose it for the same reason they chose bitcoin, it is the only way to send money or receive it quickly and cheaply, without having to cut through red tape and jewry at the bank.

BCC will rise because it offers what Bitcoin always has.

OP dont listen to the muggle nocashers on here, some right amateurs

if you love your mother just pick a random ico you fancy and smash it all in on one, easy job and the old girl set up for life

enjoy
>>
I would go for the I believe in eth stack
40% eth
20% bat
10% bancor
10% aragon

Also:
20% nav cause adapps
>>
>>3238014
40% BTC
30% ETH
30% ARK with Staking

That will keep shit stabilized very well with nice returns in 5 years.
>>
go all in on OMG and hold til the end of the year. screencap this
>>
>>3242052
>40% btc
If anything, BTC should be around 20% max.
>>
>>3242098
He's investing someone elses money. I did that to be safe.

I do agree it is a bit high, but I would lower it to about 25-30% minumum, and split the difference between ARK and ETH.
>>
>>3238000
xrp
>>
>>3242116
BCC is looking a lot safer than BTC. I honestly would split money between monetize and BCC
>>
>>3242116
Btc is going to die with all the forks. Another big Chinese group wants to make bitcoin cash 2.0 basically so that will fragment the userbase even more
>>
I came late to the party, 2 months ago I had 5.7 ethers worth of 2k USD. I was begging my mother for some extra investment money (7k that was rotting on her savings account) but she couldn't be arsed to get it off her bank. Now I turned my 2k into 70k and I don't want her money anymore.
>>
the 2k of initial investment was my whole bank account by the way.
>>
>>3238000
I would never do it, handling other people's money would make me too emotional - anxious, afraid, worried.
>>
>>3238000
your mother believes in you anon
don't let her down

eth 35%
monero 25%
omg 10%
bitcoin 20%
litecoin 10%
>>
>>3238000
$5k in each of the following:
Bitcoin, Monero, Ark, Litecoin, and Sia
>>
>>3242649
This.

My wife wants me to invest her mother's money and so do some friends. I refuse and she doesn't understand why. All I can say is I'm just not comfortable taking liability for other people's money right now.
>>
>>3238000
>If you received $25,000 to invest, what would you put it on?
everything on btc is the safest bet. but i wouldn't invest before the 2x fork in november. Buy the crash at that time.
>>
>>3238011
>agree with her beforehand that you'll do this.

bad idea. she'll see a normie news story "Bitcoin is down 20%!" and she'll pressure him to get the money out.
>>
>>3243379
Bitcoin went up $1200 after the cash fork..
>>
>>3238051
>30% in to gold and silver

or you can just throw the money away

same fucking thing

>15% in to various A+ rated coins and play with them and keep 50% of the profits as commission.

ahahahahaha
>>
seriously though OP there's no reason to buy anything but BTC and ETH is you already have a decent lump sum. BTC is already an insanely good investment with excellent returns and the only reason people touch altcoins is to try to build up their bitcoin count. No need to do that with slow and steady normie money.
>>
>>3238000
Take the money. Take the gains for yourself, then ask for a loan saying you lost everything. Never tell anyone again about your gains. Also ask all of you relatives for loans because of "gambling", then invest it all in OMG.
>>
BTC, LTC, ETH. There is no safer bet
