Filecoin will be a top ten coin within the year. People dismiss filecoin because they're upset about how the devs handled the ICO. They call it a sia clone but have never heard of nor want to understand IPFS. I implore you to read about IPFS, proof-of-spacetime, and what Protocol Labs has been up to, so that you'll start to understand why filecoin is fundamentally better than storj and sia.
>Upset about ICO
I'm bitter as FUCK.
I knew about this shit when it started.
I've been following IPFS dev for two years.
I'm running a damn node as we speak.
I wanted to buy 5k in FileCoin.
But no, you have to literally be a Jew to get in the early ICO club.
I'm mad.
>IPFS
cool
this also brought me back to Merkel trees, which I heard about a couple of times but until now never looked up
Their "Proof of Spacetime" is completely novel and needs extensive review before anyone should trust it. The safe bet is that someone discovers a flaw, just like someone has discovered a flaw in every other alternative of Proof of Work. There is very little reason to believe that Filecoin will succeed where every other non-PoW coin has failed. Especially when their whitepaper handwaves a lot of important details and treats SNARKs like a panacea.
On top of that, add all the ICO bullshit... what possible reason do you have to trust this team? IPFS is kinda neat, but it's adoption is disappointingly low for how long it's been around. And like >>3091154 said, IPFS is orthogonal to Filecoin; Sia could use it too.
>>3091009
Will it be like BURST?
