Why would the Fed or any other government monetary body allow a currency that they can't control dominate their markets? Many of the methods the Fed has learned to combat inflation, recessions, depressions.. etc... would go out the window if bitcoin became the standard currency. A recession in one country would have massive implications for all others. How is bitcoin any different than gold, apart from the fact that bitcoin doesn't have any tangible intrinsic value. All countries abandoned gold currencies for good reason.. they can't control it like they can fiat currency.
