How the hell do I start trading? I know i can't buy with USD, should I go ahead and verify to level 3 or is that retarded?

Coinbase is still the easiest way to buy BTC. You can buy with a debit card and no photo ID there. Then just transfer to Kraken. Ez

Go to funding, deposit the currency you want, select transfer type, do exactly what they tell you and in a few days the transfer will arive. Tier 2 means a daily limit of about $2k usd and a monthly one of $10k. Do not exceed the limits or they will withhold the funds. Register to tier 3 if you can.
