What do you guys think the best/safest private jet is?
My vote is either the G550 or BBJ
G550:
pros
>synthetic vision
>gulfstream customer service
>never crashed
>lighter but same thrust as g6 so better engine out climbrate which is what led to the original g6 crash
>independent backup electro-hydraulics
>manual reversion may be available on some versions?
cons
>FBW
>manual reversion may not be available on some versions?
>T-Tail so possible deep stall
>fadec only engines
BBJ
Pros:
>Manual Reversion
>Possibly non-fadec engines if you like analogue and want to get the old engines
>most popular jet in the world and all the quirks are ironed out
>fbw spoilerons
>bigger interior
cons:
>higher cost per flight hour (7k vs 5k)
>no self contained hydraulic backups
>manual reversion is centralized system
Oh yeah I wanted to say the G5 is better than the G6 because it has better engine out climb rate which is what led to the G6 flight test crash.

That being said, I'd personally go for the most reliable/safe option you can get. If both are equal evaluate maintenance costs to keep the said safety level.

ehhh the thing about renting aircraft is you dont know the maintenance history and private planes are notorious for being poorly maintained but now after some research it appears that the g5 may have cable linkages AND back up electric actuators which to me seems like the safest back up system. The downside is that it's a T-Tail and can enter a deep stall. Also gulfstream has god tier service and they will fly out mechanics to fix your aircraft anywhere in the world.
